"This CD is a low-fi gem. Exorcising My DEMOnS showcases Mabe's deft songwriting and musicianship as well as serves up sound similar to early Velvet Underground." -- Jeri Rowe, April 17, 2002, Triad Style
"Musician Of The Year: Andy Mabe, not James Brown, is the hardest-working man in show business. His most prominent role is as the bassist extraordinaire for Clare Fader & The Vaudevillains. But he has also shown up on his own; working with Jeffrey Dean Foster; leading a rockabilly band, The Flies; and playing bluegrass with Rawhide Possum. Toss in the fact that he is one funny dude, a snappy dresser and has a collection of incredible shoes, and he becomes a force with which to be to reckoned." -- Ed Bumgardner, Winston-Salem Journal, 12/28/2001
Mr. Andy Mabe, known to many as a gentleman bass player and low-end specialist for countless acts in the Southeast, was voted "Musician of the Year" in 2001 (Winston-Salem Journal) and has toured with National acts such as Danielle Howle and Kelly Hogan.
Known for his sublime fashion sense, tremendous command of the upright bass, and curly red locks, Mr. Mabe has brought us a selection of sincere songs (Exorcising My DEMOnS) that never take themselves too seriously. He plays every instrument on the album and recorded the CD entirely on a four-track in his house. John Pfiffner, Winston-Salem's studio impresario, has stepped in to bring Andy's DEMOnS to CD.
