ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This live recording of Andy Sherwood's Dixieland Jazz Quartet features the superb playing of guitarist Doug Maher. Doug brings to mind a Memphis blues style, especially on "Beale Street Blues." Also on two selections, Andy is featured on tenor saxophone for the first time on a recording. Of course he continues to play clarinet solos in the style of Pete Fountain, as on "Down in Honky Tonk Town." With the guitar, this recording features a new twist on"Just a Closer Walk With Thee" and "When the Saints Go Marching In;" two tunes always included on each recording session. The concert was recorded before a packed house at the "LaGrua Center" in Stonington Connecticut. Enjoy the "down home blues" and Dixieland flavor of this recording.
