Album Notes
Hello dear surfer. I'm Andy Units. Thank you for looking my way.

I have written and recorded Night Light, an album of 12 songs. I've spent several years bringing these 51 minutes to life, and I am eager to share it all with you.

I describe my vision as "nocturnal pop." Lights low, headphones on. I believe in songs that communicate with sincerity and clarity, even if their meaning is sometimes ambiguous. I believe in music that is ravishingly beautiful to the ear, whatever the emotion conveyed. I make recordings that strive for that ideal.

While I hope that what I do is unique, I can list some artists/albums that have been a significant influence on me throughout this project: R.E.M., Reveal; Seal, Human Being; Suzanne Vega (1st album); Coldplay, Parachutes; George Michael, Listen Without Prejudice; Feist, Let it Die; Joni Mitchell, Court and Spark; John Grant, Queen of Denmark.

I recorded and mixed this album at home, over countless nights and weekends, with love. And I would love to know what you think of it all.

Thank you most truly. xoxo -Andy

Great new Album from an emerging Austin, TX local!
Love Andy's music. Totally different sound than anything else you've heard. The vocal on vocal / harmonies / melodies are just hauntingly beautiful in the best way ever. Totally worth the purchase and listening to. Great relaxation and meditation music as well!

Absolutely fantastic!
What an amazing gift Andy Units has given the world with this music. And not just the music… with the creation of the music, the lyrics, the performance, the mixing, aspects of production, whatever was involved with this incredible piece of total art… he did practically everything himself. This man is brilliant. I am beyond impressed. But I have to say that the real pleasure of this recording is just listening to the songs themselves. What we have here is not superficial commercialism. What we get from Andy is something genuine that we rarely get in any music today: soul-baring emotion… anguish…joy…and most of all… passion. Very deep and beautifully expressed passion.

Each song is a little gem, unique unto itself, but I also found that some of these songs reminded me in one way or another of the work of other highly creative musicians. “Kick,” for example, brought to mind some of the best work done by Freddie Mercury and Queen—but in this recording, Andy did it all himself.

My personal favorite is “Goodnight Honeybear,” a song that may be the most conventional piece in the set, but it’s also the most beautiful love song I’ve heard in ages. (It woke up my synesthesia and gave me colors that I had not seen in quite a while.) So I want to thank Andy for his magnificent gift to all of us. As I continue to listen to this CD over and over, I am also really looking forward to hearing more from this exceptionally creative and versatile artist.
