ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Angry Orts combine disco-punk beats and approachable pop melodies, making songs that have been described as “frantic-n-dancey” by the Portland Mercury and as having a “Blondie-inspired poppiness”.

"Angry, my ass. The Angry Orts are far from upset; instead the bouncy local band captures the blurry pleasures of basement punk anthems, late-night house parties, and the dedicated devotion to even the most ambitious of pop melodies. Basically, it's what the Fastbacks would sound like if they lived in Portland right now, instead of Seattle back when. The Purple Rhino Squad vs. The Blue Whale Super Heavy Assault Troops (is)... an album of thrilling little pop songs that transcend the silly moniker of the band—and the record—by which they are presented." - Ezra Ace Caraeff, The Portland Mercury

The Purple Rhino Squad versus The Blue Whale Super Heavy Assault Troops, was recorded by Skyler Norwood at Miracle Lake Studios and is the band's first full length effort.

21st Century disco punk
I really love this album, and not just because I'm friends w/ the singer. It's like a 21st Century disco punk - pop album. I've listened to it countless times while cartooning and to see them live is like seeing a young Blondie before they hit the Fame. They are Fun and full of Passion. I've bought the album 3 times to share w/ people I know. They make great gifts and You ought to give them a listen. They're original music is inspired from my generation's classic pop, which is both a treat to the mind and ears!

THE PURPLE RHINO SQUAD VS THE BLUE WHALE SUPER HEAVY ASSULT
When I heard THE ANGRY ORTS I turned up the volume but...not too loud as to HEAR the talent that lies within. The writing, the musicians and the vocals are all very good; blending into an enjoyable adventure for the one who is listening. Coming from a line of talented musicians, I would like to hear you in person. My selection of four stars vs five lies in this being encouragement as my belief is that you have more hidden inside that has not yet surfaced. Vyvyan is an example of this. Thanks for the music.

Oh My Goodness
Wow . . .talk about sex for your ears! Mine were burning. Steel My Heart grabs hold of you and makes you happy to be lustful and then Light the Match brings home the result of matches not made in heaven. I don't want to write about every single recordng, but I seriously could. For a first effort, this album rocks. Way to go, ORTS. Can't wait to see you live.
