Album Notes
arbogast may enter the description as a fast-rock-thrash-metal-free-jazz-doom thing, but they're not big on labels or satisfying one particular scene. They like any music that makes them feel good and try to express that writing with no limits or expectations. Hailing from a wide background of musical tastes, disciplines and experience, they use that diversity to avoid being caught in the beaten rut of song writing.

arbogast played their first show in February of 2009 in Chicago, IL & since then the 3 piece has played shows around Chicago and the midwest. They self released the 'arbogast EP' Nov 13th, 2009, recorded, mixed, and mastered at Gunpoint Studio with Bob Popp.

Aaron Roemig- bass/vox- influences: Black Sabbath, Man is the Bastard, Big Business, Joe Jackson and Special Export. Past lives: playing in Breakdance, a thrash/metal band (1998-2006), gigging incesently around the Midwest sharing stages with the likes of DRI, Anal Cunt, Phobia, The End, Ruination, Damad, Sicbay, Ten Grand, Keelhaul and Black Market Fetus just to name a few. Playing bass for Glass Trees (Magadee Records). Throughout 2008, Glass Trees played everywhere from SXSW in Austin, TX to a show in Iowa City, IA with These Are Powers and then on out to play Jersey City, NJ as well as numerous Chicago shows.

Mike Rataj- drums/sketch- influences: Coltrane, Propagandhi, Animal Collective and Fat Tire. Rataj has had the pleasure of sharing writing credentials with a multitude of Chicago songwriters (Jeremiah Chiu, Brown Party/Icy Demons, Nate Hanyzewski Open Heart Surgery/Retro Morning/Sig Transit Gloria, Dan Duszynski Retro Morning/This is Me Smiling). Retro Morning released a split CD on Double Zero Records, of famed drummer Mike Felumlee (smoking popes, alkaline trio "infirmiry", Squirtgun, Duvall).. Rataj performed on the cover song 'Need You Around' for the smoking popes comp, featuring the Ataris and Duvall. Rataj has played most Chicago venues, from the Heaven gallery to the Fireside Bowl to the Metro and most in between.

Mike Scheid- Git/vox- influences: Muddy Waters, DJ Shadow, Mastodon, Rise Against, COC, Metallica, Burst, Torche, Leadbelly, The Sword, As I lay Dying, Robert Johnson, Nofx, Miles Davis, and anything else that rules. Projects: guitar/noise in an expiri-instru-metal band called 'f.o.r.m', producer/engineer of strange electronic music 'mr. buttons' playing drums for various punk projects and guitar for some traveling reggae bands (One Blood mainly) Mike got together with Breakdance for a few recording sessions during his stint as a sound engineer to record both of their releases at Solid Sound Studios. The first was a split 7” on Hot Potato Records w/ The Kick Ass Tarantulas (Violent Femmes) and a full length release "Mistaken Grave" out on The Curse Records. Mike was spending more of his time on the business side as a talent buyer and then spent a few years working in concert production, handling shows anywhere from Metro and Aragon to United Center and Soldier Field.
