Ariadna was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia on August 9th, 1990. While there were no known musicians in the family, Ariadna’s grandmother, who had good ears and a nice voice, often sang to Ariadna before bedtime. Ariadna was only a year old, when her grandmother bought a used “Red October” upright piano in hopes that her granddaughter would someday learn to play and sing. It was not so long afterward that Grandma’s intuition was realized, as Ariadna soon became infatuated with the instrument, attempting to play familiar melodies by ear. All through her childhood she continued to be drawn to musical instruments and would often imitate singers on television. When Ariadna turned five, her family decided that it was time to apply to a music school. She was accepted into the Glazunov School of Music, one of St.-Petersburg’s pre-college music programs. While Ariadna was anxious to begin her piano lessons, there were no longer any openings left in the studio, so a violin was thrust into her hands. A lifetime journey with the violin thus began. At age seven Ariadna started studying piano as a secondary instrument in addition to her core lessons in music theory, aural skills, history, choir, and ensemble.
In November of 2004 Ariadna and her mother relocated to Rochester, NY, where she continued her musical studies both privately and through the Eastman Community Music School. Aridana played first violin with the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra for four years touring Poland, Hungary and Slovakia with the orchestra. Rochester, a major musical teaching center is where Ariadna had the opportunity to develop her interest and soon passion for jazz, partly inspired by the performances at the annual International Jazz Festival. Ariadna attended the academically regarded Brighton High School and with the guidance of numerous mentors, Ariadna picked up the trumpet, began to sing jazz, improvise, and explore other instuments, such as the accordion, that had jazz applications.
Ariadna continued her musical path at the University of Denver, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Violin and Jazz Voice Performance. In college Ariadna also began composing music and writing lyrics and in November 11, 2011 after receiving a grant from DU released her debut jazz album Opaque Voices. After graduating Ariadna has changed homes yet again. She now lives in Brooklyn, NY, engulfed in the energy of other artists and musicians.
