Album Notes
Armando Miranda, born in 1974 in Buena Vista en La Habana, Cuba, is the lead singer and author of many of the songs of the international Salsa Orchestra Mercadonegro, acclaimed as the best Salsa orchestra based in Europe, and one of the best in the world, an orchestra which he has created in 2001 with three music partners. Armando, in fact, has left Cuba in 1998 for Europe, where he has developed his talent and started a very successful career in the Salsa business, especially since 2001 when he joined Latin music label Bibomusic Inc.
Son Como Ayer is Armando Miranda' first solo album, and has been entirely recorded in La Habana, with excepcional contributions by some of the best Cuban musicians.
It's an album of extraordinary importance, because shows once more the talent of this Cuban singer and composer, hereby applied to the music of the tradition, the Cuban Son, "the Father of Salsa music", as says the final song, Yo Soy El Son, a famous track that was firstly recorded for Mercadonegro' second album, Salsa Pa'l Mundo Entero, and hereby is presented as bonus track. Original Trova Santiaguera, Son Montuno and the typical sounds of Buena Vista, the barrio where Armando was born, are here originally offered to the lovers of the purest Cuban music, confirming that in 2012 there are still great young singers who don't forget their roots, dont' follow the commercial musical trends, but still love to nurture their talents sticking on the music of their ancestors.
The album is enriched by the participation of Cuban based guests stars like Mario "Mayto" Rivera (the former lead singer of Los Van Van), Norisley Valladares Gomez, Roelvis Reyes and piano and keyboard player Maikel Garcia Gonzalez "Cuchilla".
Armando Miranda, for his talent, his voice, his exciting live performances can be rightly considered one of the more legitimate music heirs of Beny Moré, and one of the best Cuban singers ever: just listen at this album and you will agree with us. Son Como Ayer is produced and published by Bibomusic Inc., which is also the label of Mercadonero Orchestra and many other Latin talents. The publisher Bibomusic, to the let the public and the critics know and appreciate the talent of his singer, Armando Miranda, offers in Son Como Ayer two exceptional bonus tracks: the two Son performed by Armando Miranda as lead singer of Mercadonegro, Ibarreña and Yo Soy El Son. Have a great listening!
