Album Notes
Aron has been writing and performing music for over 20 years. His unique upbringing and world experience give him a perspective on life and music that is different from most. Born into a church going family, Aron learned traditional Christian Hymns. Picking up four part harmony came easy while sitting next to his mother who sang a strong alto, his father who sang a melody to beat the choir, and his brother who sang bass. From childhood Aron enjoyed listening to all sorts of music, mostly great vocal groups like Take 6 and New York Voices. After moving to Papua New Guinea in the 80's, it was tough for Aron to find music from the U.S. His only resource was listening to Goroka radio with Casey Kasem's top 40 where he enjoyed the sounds of Stevie Wonder, Janet Jackson, Glass Tiger, Peter Gabriel, The Miami Sound Machine, and Huey Lewis. Aron and his friends would listen and then meet up later to discuss all the songs they heard while trying to mimic the vocal sounds and music. Aron taught himself to play the piano in high school. It is then when he began writing songs.
After graduation, Aron returned to the States and attended Houghton College where he intensely studied music ed. and vocal production. He sang in the college choir, a Christian Contemporary group called Heir-borne, a rock band called Thunder Chicken, a Barbershop Quartet called Bobby and the Boys (which later became The Boys), participated in a touring choir that went to Germany, Hungary, Austria, and Czechoslovakia, and wrote songs and performed in the group Sound Doctrine that featured original music and stage productions. Aron also spent time in the college studio learning microphone and mixing techniques as well as production concepts. After 4 years of school an internship with Troy and Genie Nilsson in Nashville, TN, and some post grad. work Aron finally had his degree in vocal music education and vocal production.
Aron found a job in teaching music and has been moonlighting as a full time teacher =) while performing, directing, and doing sound production around the U.S. and Canada.
This is Aron's first official release under his own steam and is the culmination of many years of learning and reflection. Aron is already at work on his next album which will be a compilation of more original music describing his love, relationships, life lessons, friendships, failures, and accomplishments.
"Thanks for taking the time to get to know me a little more through my music." - Aron
