ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
A winner at last year's Hank Williams Songwriting Contest in Georgiana, Alabama, Arty Hill plays 50s/60s-style country music in Baltimore, Maryland with his band, the Long Gone Daddys. Arty's first release, Baltimore Reasons, includes acoustic versions of ten original songs, ranging from rockabilly and country swing (Big Daddy's Rye, Livin' on the Road Again) to George Jones-style shuffles and ballads (Baltimore Reasons, Crystal Put Down The Pistol). Ten fine tales of barrooms, bedrooms, and Baltimore.

Raw storytelling stuff. Get Arty Hill to hear BOTH Guthries reincarnated with Ea
It's no surprise to read that Arty's first was found by his first CDBaby reviewer in the aficionado's PICKS(above)--but let's hope this musician's musician will get the larger audience he deserves. "Love is a gamble/odds run with the house" as he writes--but Arty Hill is a sure bet worth a listen and then ... double or nothing ... a Relisten. Raw storytelling stuff. Arty Hill reincarnates BOTH Guthries with Eastern Shore Maryland trouble and depth.

Great songwriting, singing and picking.
This CD is a great buy. The songs are stick to your ribs, and Arty has one of the purest voices I've heard in a long while. Saw Arty perform in a small restaurant in Baltimore and was blown away. Check him out if you get the chance.

IT'S RARE TO HEAR COUNTRY MUSIC THIS GOOD!
I picked this CD up at a local store in Virginia when I saw it in the employee favorites section. I'm a fan of well crafted and melodic songs and good playing. This CD has it all plus the passion and emotion that most modern country affects at best, or completely lacks. The vocal influences here range from Hank Williams to George Jones and beyond, yet remain totally original. This CD was a big surprise as it far exceeded my expectations. I rarely rave like this about new purchases. However, I HIGHLY recommend this CD to fans of unpretentious, honest & most of all GOOD roots inspired American music. Keep 'em coming Mr. Hill!!!!!

Welcome Arty
I heard this compact disc during the Black Sunday shopping day in November playing in-house at a hardware store in Breezewood, Pennsylvania. I went to the clerk and asked him who it was. He informed me that it was a CD by Arty Hill from Baltimore. I have always been a fan of Eddy Arnold since my youth in North Platte, Nebraska. Now, I wouldn't say that this is very Eddy-ish, but it evokes that time in music when a soaring voice could liberate your soul! I'm now a fan of Arty and have both of his discs. I hope someday to see the man and his band live! Until then Arty - Follow that dream!!

Could listen to Arty Hill all night
ARTY HILL BALTIMORE REASONS

Here is a guy that can sing everything, and this CD displays his talents very effectively. Hill could hold his own extremely well with all those Texas Singer/Songwriters in Kerrville and Austin, TX. The more you listen to this collection, the more you will enjoy these ten strong songs.

The selections on this disc range from up-tempo songs with a strong “Memphis Beat” to the folksy, “I Left Highland Town”, which has a wonderful verse with a smooth melody that stays with you for days.

The title song is a very catchy ballad and should be experiencing much popularity in this port city on the Chesapeake Bay. The local Chamber of Commerce should jump at this song to promote tourism. (They haven’t had a popular song since “The Streets of Baltimore” by Bobby Bare or “Lady Came From Baltimore” by Tim Hardin.

There are several fresh songs here that could and should be recorded by today’s recording Country Stars including; “Crystal, Put Down The Pistol”, “It Ain’t Workin’”, and “Livin’ On The Road Again” (Willie Nelson, please pay attention to this perfect sequel for you)

I could sit with a pitcher of light beer and listen to Arty Hill’s heavy songs all night. Here’s a hint to his contemporaries…..
Don’t try to follow him!

Summer Party Disc
This CD is perfect for jumpstartin' the summer barbecue. It's great for keeping the party going well into the night also! I got this based on the recommendation of a friend who is a music afficianado. Arty Hill would knock em dead at South by Southwest, New Orleans Jazz Heritage Festival or any Americana throwdown! This is Honky Tonk ginmill music sans the chicken wire ranging from Sad to exhuberant. Firey stuff with the passion of a gospel shouter. Don't delay - order this now!!

Loved it-brought back memories it is "so Baltimore"
This reminds me of the Baltimore I knew growing up and visiting there as a child. I am living in Texas and really enjoyed listening to this "bluesy Baltimore Beat"
