As Colour Fades started off like every other aspiring young band: a group of friends with an idea and a dream. A collaboration of young musicians from different backgrounds and cultures, getting together and writing music appropriatel to their musical tastes.
As Colour Fades is a 5 piece Metalcore/Post-Hardcore band from Auckland, New Zealand. A group of high school students with a fascination an
d addiction to music, however, not specifically just to their particular genre . Their musical backgrounds include Classical training, Jazz Combo’s, Big Bands and Choirs. 2009 came the decision to enter in the nationwide high school competition ‘SmokeFree Rockquest’. Although first experiences were terrible, they decided to pursue the potential they had, not knowing what 2010 had in store.
In 2010 As Colour Fades established a respected and well-known name in the Auckland Metalcore/Hardcore scene, traveling to new cities, and playing with big local and international names such as Scary Kids Scaring Kids, Die Die Die!, The Mark of Man, East of Eden, Of Blackest Oceans and many more. They have also had the opportunity to feature on radio stations and newspapers.
In early 2011 they released there long awaited ‘As Colour Fades Demo’ to the public. This generated a lot of hype, and the band was able to secure more slots opening for the international bands Of Mice and Men, The Word Alive, Northlane and Prepared Like A Bride to name a few. They also produced a music video for their song entitled 'Holding On'.
As Colour Fades is a band with members who promote good morals and values. They believe that music is a way to express an idea, experience and/or opinion. They do not condone smoking, excessive drinking or the use of illegal substances but encourage leading a life without it.
“We aren't straight edge, and we aren't a band that preaches or promotes being straight-edge. We have just had a lot of friends in the past that went through the same phase the youth today is going through, and some of the outcomes we’ve seen is life changing. If you do that stuff, cool, but no thanks aye.”
The band is a group of casual dudes who love writing and listening to music. Overtime both the music and band has changed and is still evolving.
2012 marks the year that As Colour Fades will release their debut EP, as well as voyage over to Australia to tour with new found friends. Stay Tuned!
