Adam Smith is an artist of and for our times.
Passion has its time and place. And in today’s marketplace of music, passion seems to be sorely missing. That is until you hear the emotive voice and literately passionate songs of singer/songwriter Adam Smith.
Adam's melodic voicings and honest love songs are simple and yet complex; youthful and yet sage, prophetic and reflective -- and at once personal and universal.
This 25 year old from Harlan County, Kentucky packed up his guitar and traveled to Nashville, Tennessee, where he found himself a space on a street corner in downtown Nashville. Homeless and playing his music for quarters and nickels, Adam serenaded the passers-by and with his music, opened up the doors to heaven with a message of love and keen insight into the human condition for all to hear, that would hear.
One is reminded of the story of a young Bob Dylan leaving Hibbing, Minnesota for the East Village in NYC in the 1960s.
Adam’s passionate pleas for love and tolerance evoke the voices of prior generations with the peaceful urgency of a need for voices to represent today’s generation.
"Adam's debut album, 'Another Way to Get to Heaven," is heartbreakingly beautiful.... I find myself both wanting to hear through the entirety of this album in the same heated rush, and also not wanting to finish listening...forever...because it's so damn good....Adam Smith's songwriting is simple, beautiful, clear, and honest...Genuine love songs/heart songs born of his survival of a great many things. His lyrics are stunning, bold. His voice is angelic. This music just makes me cry with the truth of it all, and the importance of it all.... I'm reminded of the fact that the 'universal' is so very much to be found in the 'personal.' Adam Smith is very prophetic/sage-like in that hippie sort of a way." "Adam Smith is one new and important voice for us all.
" Dick Wagner, lead guitar, producer, songwriter (Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, Kiss, Lou Reed)
"Recording is always exciting when good songs are involved and working on Adam's record was a joy.
Song after song after song, I can't get enough of Adam Smith." - Otto D'Agnolo, Owner of Chaton Studios
