ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Tunes for a New Era is just that: it is a new style of more upbeat, optimistic tunes (which are still grounded somewhat in the Reality of the moment) that are meant to propel us into the New Era (post 2012) with added confidence and determination to solve the increasingly difficult problems that face Modern Humanity. The album starts with the Last Official Release that Astral Prune did with the venerable MC303's. After that point, the last MC303 bits of functionality began to erode, the buttons were sticking, and it was becoming increasingly difficult to utilize the MC303 of old. The second song and all the rest of the songs on the album are done with the newer MC808. This instrument adds a new dynamic to the Astral Prune sound. You will hear in the second song an incredible amount of underlying energy. These songs represent what happens when the sound collages work out, producing visible pictures into the psyche of the artist and the collective unconscious. By the time you reach the fifth song (Symbolic Unlock), Astral Prune has hit full stride with the new instrument and a fully developed trip is produced which reminds us that we are always still in control. The next song Core is nothing short of wicked. Acid Step reveals quite clearly the Acid House roots of Astral Prune as this song utilizes the exact acid house instrumentation used in the 80's. This song is clearly an influenced song and not so much an original song. Finally there is Weird One which is almost completely off the hook. After that, Astral Prune begins to delve into some vocal experiments with the express purpose of Getting the Message Out regarding some key concepts that seem to be lacking in everyday debate in 2011. You will hear what is on Astral Prune's mind in the last song.
