Album Notes
Aural Sculpture...Vol.1 was conceived in September 2005 in Warrnambool, Victoria. Halliwell recruited a backing band who were all experienced musicians in the local scene. The 4 members came together to jam original grooves, and experiment with a range of genres in an original format without limitations! (Aural Sculpture...Vol.1) was conceived from a live band improvisation recorded at Palm Cove in October 2005. This live 8-track recording consisted of Mark Halliwell (acoustic guitar), Tony Peel (bass), Cheryl Philp (percussion) and Ronald Philp (drums and keys). This inspired 3 hour jam session layed the foundation for the album. The jam session sat in the vault until June 2006 when Mark took the master tapes to his own studio (Zala Music studio) and began arranging the songs through precision editing combined with looping the band jams and feels. Vocals, electric guitars and keys were overdubbed and completed over a 2 month period through some very intense and focused sessions! The selected finished songs were then mixed by Mark at the Motherlode studio in October 2006 in just 4 very long days. It turned out to be the last album mixed at the legendary Warrnambool recording studio under the ownership and management of Tony Peel.
