"Haller's haunting voice and lyricism reflect a deeply personal journey. The band's unique blend of folk rock and jazz creates a harmonic landscape that reaches out and grabs you by the heartstrings. Close your eyes and walk." - Jacqueline Czernin, CBC Radio One
“Writing song lyrics, especially Haller’s brand of contemporary folk rock, has become its own form of poetic expression; his lyrics are more than just words to a song. Haller has made the successful transition from songwriter to poet. I think Aurian Haller is a name we are going to be hearing for years to come in both literary and musical circles.” — The Canadian Book Review
The Aurian Haller Band is award-winning poet and singer/songwriter, Aurian Haller, and a talented group of musicians from Quebec City. The quartet mixes up folk, rock and jazz for a contemporary folk sound, featuring a blend of steel guitar, string bass, cello, vibes, piano and acoustic guitar. At the heart of the music are Haller’s haunting lyrics. Haller has written several books and has won numerous national awards, including the Canadian National Magazine Award for poetry. His songs are reminiscent of Leonard Cohen, Donovan and Nick Drake, but also echo francophone influences such as Daniel Bélanger.
"Aurian Haller has a magnetic stage presence and a voice you just want to wrap yourself up in. "Wrecking Ball" is stunning; an achingly beautiful melody combined with rich, evocative lyrics. You'll want to listen to it over and over and over again." - Elizabeth Robertson, CBC Radio One.
