Vocalist Avis Harrell - A Song for Haiti
Silver Day for
AAH Number One Music Entertainment
Everyone knows that the devastation in Haiti has been at the top of the news and we have all felt their pain, sadness and distress. All the major stars are visible once again doing fundraisers, as your general public is reaching out in the best ways they know how. Avis Harrell spoke with me the other day and told me that she sat down and wrote, arranged, produced, played, and sang all lead and background vocals once again on this beautiful, heartfelt song titled "No Time To Blame", that she said was a gift from God. On the heels of her "Tribute Dedicated To Our Troops" Cd, Avis is about to release her 4th Cd titled "Avis" Live Jazz Festivals Around The World" which is in its final stages.
She said she wanted to add one final song, particularly a spiritual or gospel to complete this work of art and V'walla! Her blessing came with "No Time To Blame" which is dedicated to the suffering going on in Haiti. She expressed to one of her friends that she wrote the lyrics one afternoon then played and recorded the entire song that same night. With a little editing and mixing the next day, she was convinced that this song needed nothing more except to be herd. In my opinion, it has the potential to be as powerful as "We Are the World".
Avis' goal with this project is to move people in a way that they have never been moved before to really participate and reach out to help Haiti in these crucial times. The day the earthquake hit, Avis went around and asked friends to contribute $1.00. When she heard a few responses such as, "I'd rather give to my own personal fund", and what will $1.00 buy those people in Haiti...a bottle of water? She became more determined to try and move a mountain. The kind of mountain that people put in the way when they can't open up their hearts and jump in with both hands and feet and contribute immediately when they see that the world and lives are painfully at stake.
Once I sat down and gave a listen to "No Time To Blame", I have to agree, that the lyrics, melody, the groove, the background vocals, instrumentation, ...the entire production is something to marvel at and will blow you a way to see that one woman has the determination to show the world that if you have the Faith of a mustard seed and believe in yourself, you can move mountains. Let's help Avis move this mountain and support Haiti with this awesome song, "No Time To Blame". Proceeds donated to UNICEF for the Children and funds to help re-build Haiti.
