ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
A Flying Penguin Labor of Love!!!!

"She writes so many I like. That Aviva, is quite the songstress. I've met lots of people who write many songs but, few who write so many and have most of them be made of meaningful words that need be said, and bring about healing. She is a true bard." - Paulino Perna De Ferro, percussionist, instructor of Capoeira Angola

"The most beautiful spirits have learned to be still and love themselves unconditionally. When these people are performing artists they find the courage to open their hearts and share their light brightly with so many others. Thank you for that, Aviva." - Edward McNally, graphic designer

"That's the most original sound I've heard in a long time" - Andy Shaughnessy- editor of 'Blues Notes'

"I don't think you should put a label on music. Melodiously, a serenity type of feeling is what I get from your music. I want to cry or sleep or cry and sleep and that's good. Music should move you to that emotional space" ~ Don, Musician

"You have good words that bring high vibrations when people turn into the stupid" - Karen Wyatte SabbathWind

"Your voice is rich and powerful and beautiful, and your cleverness with words is, well, I can't think of how to describe it except that I like how you put your words together. . . and your whole entourage was wonderful." - Ruby Bock , Garden Manager

"Aviva, you are a top-notch performer! You bring such a personable dynamism to the stage that few can follow the energy of your wake. I hope we will soon be seeing you play larger venues & attracting legions of new fans because you soooo deserve to be heard! Keep dancing in your own vibration, spinning your web of healing energy through song & dance, for the light you generate chimes to the breath of Mother Earth. The song you sing follows the flow of the fireflies. The love of life you radiant lights the fire of our earthy existence newly ablaze!" - Carter , Astrologist

"It's experimental, interesting, and cosmic- I love it" - Zac Richards, Evolver Volunteer

"A excellent fusion of modern reggae, rock, and new age...So beautiful, soft and sexy....!!!" . ."...You are my number one original musician girl, EVER !!! You won a gift of God....The creativity !" -- Ednaldo Queiroz, classical guitarist

PRESS:
"Aviva is a visionary whose music speaks directly to your soul." by, Deb Alberto...

She knew she was born to entertain when, at age 8, she won a national contest for a song she wrote, then performed in front of thousands of people. Her New York upbringing provided her with plenty of opportunity to nurture her gifts. She began playing piano at age 8 and, with the help of world renowned drummer Omar Hakim, she recorded her first demo at age 16. She toured nationally with an amateur A Capella group throughout college. Later, playing with professional jazz bands helped her to grow instrumentally, developing her skills on the, trumpet, drums and piano.

After a five-year hiatus from writing songs, Aviva moved to Atlanta where she studied massage, homeopathy, breath therapy, Chinese Medicine, primal therapy and belly dance. Her mystical journey broke off some of her ego masks, and she was inspired to write songs once again. Connecting with kindred spirits inspires her music; intimately sharing her heart and ego struggles while producing an alchemy for the soul. Aviva weaves into her songs a gentle reminder of our human-ness and all of our spirits' capacity to peaceful communication.

Her song 'Emet' is a powerful reminder that we are beautiful and connected beings, while 'Cannabis Car' is about protecting and caring for our natural environment. The inspiration for 'Cannabis Car' came while working on a farm in exchange for vegetables. Aviva learned from a farmer that Henry Ford created a car that ran on cannabis oil, and in those days, it was illegal for farmers not to grow cannabis as part of their crops. “That was not the kind you smoke,” Aviva joked, adding that she and her friends do not indulge in mind altering substances.

The life of natural highs continues to inspire Aviva’s music. She is a Qi Gong and Belly Dance instructor. She teaches and practices earthen building, and her life is devoted to her spirit's freedom. “I needed to live outside of accepted culture so I could explore what I saw and felt in my soul; The greatest potential for humanity is being human,” she said. “Being who we really are brings out our individual gifts and abilities. All too often we get distracted by money or the pursuit of fame, which does not bring happiness.".

The Flying Penguins are a dynamic group of top-notch performers Here are these albums credits:

2. Painted Truth: I don't want you to go through the same thing that I experienced; his chaos & nature are hard to describe. So please be careful & stop twisting my words. "I want him back" is what you heard, "I want you safe" is what I say. I painted a truth for you, But you weren't there. And this truth can't compare to your present feelings and the painted truth you see, Your heart cannot find you changing your mind too soon Too soon. She told you I was taking away the absolute love of her life. And I should have more consideration like you had for me- when you lied! I said honesty's the best policy but you jumped to your own conclusion and well, we all have our own illusions to bear. She painted a truth for you, But you weren't there yet you were moved to compare my heart with hers and the painted truth you see. Your heart seems to have found a way to turn it around on me ON MEEEEEEE! He told me about your history. But was it just his story? Or does it mean that I should stay away? And are you just misunderstood? Were you hurt more than you know? I just can't believe that there's no hope. He painted a truth for me, but I wasn't there. And this truth really scared my present feelings and the painted truth I see. My heart cannot find me changing my mind too soon!

3. Emet: Emet Teferet You think you need to be like all the magazines say.
You think you need to talk like all the TV stars talk. You think you need to dress like people in your town dress. You think you need to think like teachers and your friends think. But what’s the truth?? Emet Teferet Do you believe your ‘Emet’? ‘Emet’ means truth. Do you know your ‘Teferet’? ‘Teferet’ means beauty. As I walk down the street I see ‘Teferet’ all around me; In your smile, in your walk, in your voice, in your clothes Emet Teferet. When you sit and wait in line you’re beautiful, when you joke with your friends you’re beautiful, when you are reading these words right now you’re beautiful, and when you speak your truth you’re beautiful! Emet Teferet. You don’t have to try and be more. You’re perfect as you are. You don’t have to try and be. You don’t have to try and be more. You’re perfect as you are. You don’t have to try and be. So what’s the moral of this song it’s that We all can get along. . .Shalom . . .’Shalom’ means peace be with you. So what’s the moral of this song it’s that We all can get along. . .If we feel ‘Teferet’.. .And believe our ‘Emet’

. . .We will have ‘Shalom’ . . .Emet, Teferet . . .SHAAALOM

4. Mainstream
(I am SICK of people telling me I can't make it as a musician because i am too old and not mainstream enough- so... i gave birth to this dandy... ) All the music pedophiles who just want young guns to suck on, suck on this, we need our ancient mamas givin us a kiss. AS we sleep in the suckles of our honey chuckles, Jah says do this and we're not gonna dis that!! NO NO Listen one, listen all, if you want inspiration, call on a flying penguin, we'll fly out resuscitation ooooooooooo Stop telling me I can never be mainstream, what does that mean? Labels are a package. Stamp it. Sell it. We know what that means. Still I’m a product of this world Bonafide, you can't package up souls. They've tried. It's an illusion, Your head's filled with confusion of someone else's greed. We really need a solution. ooooooooooo And all the fakers, they're just Takers. They don't know what it means to be out of the machine. And all the children need our healing. They don't need another idol teaching them to be idle. (Call us Call us Our number is 641-715-3800 extension! 96497) Ok I know I'm not 5, but HEY I'm alive. And so are you and this is all we’re gonna do see we thrive. Cause Jah is on our side, and what's inside is gold. It's for every age, every heart, & may the truth be told. Penguins may not really fly, but we're the flying penguins. And we’ll take you so hiiiiigh! Come on and oooooooooooooo!

5. Givin Each other Love/I Wanna Be Me
We just gotta keep givin each other love... givin each other love... It don’t cost nothing. It’s for free. It’s just learning how to be me. How to just be, How to say we, How to enjoy this family tree. We just gotta keep givin each other love... Love will cure the world. Listen boys and girls. The joy that we’re creatin is flowing so stop waiting. We just gotta keep givin each other love... Being ourselves is the brightest flame, So it’s time to release our shame, cause when we hide, the world get’s dim, So shine your light and let the sun shine in. We just gotta keep givin each other love... Love will cure the world. Listen boys and girls. The joy that we’re creating is flowing so stop waiting . . . . . . .We just gotta keep givin each other love... Let the Sun Shine In!...

I don't wanna be you, cuz I wanna be me Yeah yeah. Maybe you don't see what you wanna see when you open your eyes; seeing others' beauty, but not what's inside. Look at your own soul, don't you know you're divine. You’re divine! You have nothing to prove and now is the time, now is the time. Let it shine! I don't wanna be you, cuz I wanna be me Yeah yeah. You don't see what I see, and I don't see what you see. But it's what we don't see that keeps us on our journey. Giving us our power, and making us fine channels! Every cell is right in place, our messages will follow, Send em strong. I don't wanna be you, cuz I wanna be me Yeah yeah. No Ciero ser to porque yo ciero ser me!!! And we need you to be all that you can be, it'll lift us higher. And we know what you know is a learning flow and it might be expired
But there's a pretty good chance that it just might inspire. So take a risk and spit out that pacifier, that pacifier, and let it flow. I don't wanna be you, cuz I wanna be me Yeah yeah

7. Love Unspoken: Is this really goodbye to your lips? I cannot deny, A little slipped disappointment. Here we’ve found a little peace; the silence of safe touch Of a love unspoken. The fear of being close here . . .buried the fire. Cause we might die if they find out. Diamonds tossed aside. So he can pretend he’s got a worthless soul Will we ever fill up the familiar void? Our captors still hold the jewel Too rare... Beware my friend cause we may never share this again. This love unspoken, the fear of being close here buried the fire. Cause we might die if they find those Diamonds tossed aside. So he can pretend he’s got a worthless soul. Will we ever fill up the familiar void? And it's just so funny how I love you so much but don't want it read... that I sought the ugly stuff stuck in ur soldered head. And it's bread and honey til my vulnerability kills my ability dead. I'm ugly with ur heart spilled on my dripping bed. It's that time, We can't remember that twisted up true love, bleeding our hearts into other members of our bodies not members of our family anymore, just a ghost who left the door ajar For a love unspoken, the fear of being close here buried the fire. Cause we might die if they find out. Diamonds tossed aside. So he can pretend he’s got a worthless soul. Will we ever be whole, Will we ever fill up the familiar void? . . .Or did we give up?

8. A Little Girl, A Little Love: You may not believe what I have to say. But that doesn’t mattter. Cause God’s on my side and peace. When I was a child, so very small, I knew was God was, I knew what love was. But you told me I was wrong and I didn’t believe you, but you showed me what you believed. You may not believe . . .So you took me in your arms and you showed me what you thought love was. What did you expect me to do? What did you expect me to feel? I didn’t want to be there. I passed out from the pain. The love this little girl knew was now a pile of shame. No more was I a child, No more was I a girl, but an empty shell of fire; a monster and a ghoul. You wasted oh you wasted me. Your beliefs are wrong.

9. True Love’s Not a Secret: True Love's Not a Secret, you'll know loud and clear You won't have to hide it. You won't feel any fear... I know it's silly for me not to have made my match, but I've been caught up in this silly game. I keep blaming my society and Hollywood who glorify and crucify this thing called ‘love’. I can't remember when I threw it all away but I'm holding on to what they used to say... they said! True Love's Not a Secret, you'll know loud and clear You won't have to hide it. You won't feel any fear... Religion, tradition, it seems to help keep this jewel safe... and sound asleep when clutching is too tight. What kills me is when I think I can't tell you how I feel. Who told me I couldn't use my voice? I can't remember when I threw my voice away but I'm letting go, I hear my mama pray... she says True Love's Not a Secret, you'll know loud and clear. You won't have to hide it. You won't feel any fear... Hearing people rant and rave about the latest sexy craze. It just don't do love a lot of good. That's magazines, those Jimmy Deans, those Charlie Sheens, and starving teens looking for love, but lost in Hollywood. I can't remember when those images weren't there but I'm gonna share this message if I may... hey hey! True Love's Not a Secret, you'll know loud and clear
You won't have to hide it. You won't feel any fear... Xulu Chant by Simon Xulu about love

10. Change: How ya gonna change the world? Are you gonna be the change or are you gonna wait for change to rearrange you? I'm not complacent, adjacent to a man impatiently eracing me and racing me, are we a race that's free? Planetary times are chased with planetary changes, are you with me when I say I see, potentially we're here on Heaven! How ya gonna change the world? Are you gonna be the change or are you gonna wait for change to rearrange you? I'm feelin antsy, you glance at me i trance away, our greeting isn't meeting it's just fearing what you'll take away. I love life as you love life; i honor your deepest creation in this life; i encourage you to love yourself and be yourself for the highest good ALIFIFE! How ya gonna change the world? Are you gonna be the change or are you gonna wait for change to rearrange you? I'm gonna stage a show for the universe so she can see her stars; so she can see you glow. Lets a stage a show for the universe. We're gonna sing a verse for the universe so she can see her stars; so she can see you glow. Just one word, one verse . . . as we traverse the space rehearsin might, reverse in this version, aversion to light... How ya gonna change the world? Are you gonna be the change or are you gonna wait for change to rearrange you? Just one word, one verse, one voice can make a difference, don't be shy to be the first… FREEEEEEEEEEEEEE

11. Cannabis Car: Don’t you want a car that runs on cannabis?.. You got a nice life. You got a nice wife. You’re working hard for your money. You’ve got to slave to survive, but the gas prices never cease to rise. Don’t you want a car that runs on cannabis?.. But can you run a car on cannabis? Henry Ford, he invented the design. How nice it would be to not smell like gasoline every time I take my car for a ride . .Hemp my ride! Don’t you want a car that runs on cannabis?.. Now mama earth she would agree: Use cannabis for paper and not a tree, Use cannabis for clothing instead of cotton, it even grows wild without the pesticides that give us cancer!! Don’t you want a car that runs on cannabis?.. OO funa a Kuya kule Cannabis! Some people say that oil pollutes and drilling into the ground is killing our roots... Xulu chant... All the farmers in Iraq could be digging for food but instead they’re drilling for oil, is it the government’s rule? But we could easily be a hero: Just make hemp production legal!! Don’t you want a car that runs on cannabis? (It was once illegal in this country to NOT grow Cannabis if you were a farmer - yeay for change!)

13. Definitely Reflective: It's definitely reflective of the choice I made; definitely reflective of the choices I made. It's definitely reflective of the choice I made... Definitely Reflective! Who would have thought that I'd end up broke? It's no joke! I got a dollar and a pair of clean clothes. I got no job and it's getting kind of cold. I'm putting all my faith in a nineteen year old. It's nice to jump, but it ain’t that nice to fall. I try to spread my wings, but I can't get off the ground at all - and It's definitely reflective... Fear is so queer and so near to me just like that alarm clock buzzing in my ear, and your beer. Invisible chains surround my whole body. I can barely move, give me a groove so I can dance without no fancy pants. Darkness envelopes me. Is that depression? I have a confession you have the choice to love or hate yourself and It's definitely reflective... But I choose to love myself now. I choose to love me unconditionally, yeah. I choose to love myself now. I choose to love me unconditionally YEAH! OOOH YEAH!! ~ DOOWAT DOOWAT ~ There's nothing in this world you can tell me I can't do. When one believes they can acheive, it's like a game where all you do is receive. And I'll spread my wings a little further. Here comes a breeze hold my hand if you please and It's definitely reflective... I sang a song about the sun and the moon. It said even if you got nothing you got the light in and out of you. And I don't care what anybody else says. All the stars in the sky are the same stars in my head and now I sing to you. And now I sing this song to you and so you know it must be true!! It's definitely reflective …

15. Pennies from Heaven
used with permission by easy song licensing

My Grandma Sylvia she gave . . .She gave us pennies that she told us all we might should save. On our first birthdays taped into our cards she gave us our first one, Then 2, 3, 4 or 24 each time we circled the sun. And then one day she left us all with God to be. And up in Heaven she dropped pennies what a sight to see . .She made earth shine, she told me package up the songs you sing . .Trade in this gold before you’re stuck with a thing that’s just another thing . . . Everytime it rains it rains Pennies from Heaven. Don’t chya know each cloud contains pennies from Heaven? You’ll find your fortune falling, all over town. Be sure that your umbrella is upside down. Trade them for a package of sunshine and flowers. If you want the things you love, you must have showers. So when you hear it thunder, don’t run under a tree, cause there’ll be pennies from heaven for you, and me. weeeeeeeeeeee (spirits flying around in Heaven) Everytime, everytime it rains it rains, pennies from granny. Don’t chya know each cloud contains Pennies from Granny? You’ll find your fortune falling all over town. Be sure to collect your light, right into your crown. You’re a beautiful package of your gifts, your talents, your inner powers. When you share these gifts of love, stand strong, they’ll transform your darkest hours. And if you hear it thunder, don’t hide under a tree there’ll be pennies from Heaven, look all around at your blessings from Heaven. Glory to God this world is magic everything you see for you and me

Frank Relations

We just gotta keep giving each other love . . .
Aviva's "Painted Truth" zooms in on the fine grain intimacy of relationship while zooming out to grander truths and pleas to save our fragile planet. All this in wrapped in the universal languages of rock, reggae and Hebrew chanting.
While I hear shades of Laura Nyro's rawness; rich, multiple harmonies of the same voice a la Joni Mitchell, I'm also feeling the power of a young Barbara Streisand. But in the end Aviva is one-of-a-kind. After all, she urges her listeners to "love and approve of ourselves" and let our individuality flow. This aging hippie is heartened to see the next generation carry on our values. Download now!
