The following information forms the Marketing & Promotion for the Canadian Soft Rock group, AWSM.
AWSM completed their first Soft Rock album on November 30, 2006. "AWSM", the album, was produced by Peter Linseman of Music Mentor Productions and Kim Wagner of AWSM. Peter and his independent label/publishing company will be at the helm of the independent promotion.
During the period of January to July, 2005, AWSM applied for, and was awarded, two consecutive FACTOR Professional Publisher’s and Songwriter’s Demo Awards for the titled songs On The Run and What Am I Going To Do About You. Both of these songs are featured on the AWSM album. Kim Wagner and AWSM will continue to apply for the appropriate programs for support.
AWSM's band brings the experience of many successful musicians, such as producer Peter Linseman who has written, produced and marketed artists like Royalty Record's Megan Morrison, Peer Music's Mia Kulba, EMI's Alexandra Slate.
Peter Linseman is also nominated for 2005 CCMA award for best recording studio in Canada.
AWSM's Drummer Gary Craig is nominated for 2005 CCMA award for best drummer in Canada.
AWSM’s bass player, John Dymond is nominated for 2005 for CCMA award for best bass player in Canada.
During the period of March to June, 2006, Peter Linseman and Kim Wagner finalized the mixing portion of the album, and between July and October, 2006, Phil Demetro from the Lacquer Channel mastered the recording, bringing the AWSM album up to broadcast quality.
Biography / Writer
AWSM is the creation of singer-songwriter Kim Wagner. Kim is a Canadian born singer-songwriter based in Toronto, and a member of Socan. He has developed his unique writing, recording, and performing skills over the years and formed AWSM on November 30, 2003. Kim has previously preformed in groups such as Venus Flytrap and Loose Change. He has also performed hundreds of shows throughout Ontario and Quebec both as a solo performer to fronting a sixteen-piece orchestra.
Kim has studied voice at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and has also taken private vocal training with the late Charles Jordan of Toronto. He has also studied guitar at the Millwheel in Toronto.
Singles and CD Release
AWSM’s first showcase will be held in March 2007 at The Cameron House in Toronto to publicize the event and to announce the forthcoming release for the album.
A VideoFact application will be submitted through DANTE Entertainment for AWSM. dB Promotions and Music Mentor Productions have both worked with DANTE Entertainment in the past.
Marketing and Publicity
Dulce Barbosa of dB Promotions will be called upon to nationally track the singles released from the AWSM album.
Managing Director, Dulce Barbosa of the reputable marketing & publicity company, dB Promotions, will provide the expertise for any special event and sponsorship ties to the corporate marketplace. Dulce will work to increase national awareness of the band AWSM, their performances and recordings. Given dB Promotions' experience and successful track record with international publicity campaigns for artists Roch Voisine, Pavlo and Gowen, there is no doubt that public awareness of AWSM will dramatically increase (see attached letter).
Peter Linseman of Music Mentor Productions helped negotiate and sign a national distribution agreement with FACTOR recognized distributor, Nuff Entertainment for AWSM's debut CD release (see attached contract). This includes all HMV stores throughout Canada.
Staggered release strategy, in which the album is released in centres as AWSM is able to perform through out. This will maximize the amount of exposure and sales potential within each given area.
With independent distribution in place and in conjunction with the release of a Video, retail outlets in centres where AWSM has not yet performed will be serviced with the CD, thereby maximizing Canadian sales potential.
Internet distribution through www.cdbaby.com has been established and various on-line arms of retail outlets, e.g. HMV.com will be achieved with links to the AWSM website.
Internet CD sales are set up on the website www.awsm.biz with on-line purchasing available through CD Baby.
Marketing of this CD at Foreign music conferences such as the Durango Songwriter’s Expo, South by Southwest, and the TAXI Conference will also assist in the future sales of AWSM music.
