The Balcony Players are an energetic Gypsy/Klezmer band that takes pride in making people happy and dance with their music, while at the same time promoting a green revolution around the world! Being an international group with their members coming from the Netherlands, Belgium, Peru and New Orleans USA, their music combines these different cultures with a mix of traditional Gypsy and Jewish music creating a rich and colorful sound perfect for dancing. The band in its current state consists of five members; those being: Moniek de Leeuw (Violin), Johan de Pue (Guitar), Ilse Roskam (Accordion), Martin Masakowski (Double Bass), and Luca Susti (Drums). Their new CD, Balcony Go Crazy, released in October 2010, contains an equal mix of original compositions and traditional music from both the Balkans and South America. After completing their all acoustic recording, the Balcony’s (as they call themselves) tried to find a green way to produce and promote the record, which is why the new CD cover is made from completely recycled material! As an extra step to promote a healthy environment, they organized a way, in collaboration with the Dutch good purpose organization Oxfam Novib, that one tree will be planted in Mozambique, Africa for Every hardcopy CD sold either online or in person!
