December 2010 marks the five year anniversary of Bolton's finest Mexican band, Pancho Ballard and the Banditos. What better way to celebrate that fact than to release our first ever single, Mexican Boy in the Snow.
It's a song about loss, about longing, about exile. Who the Mexican Boy is, I've no idea, and why he's on the run is a mystery to me. The words just poured out one cold, winter's morning in 2009 and since then we've been performing it live all over the UK. Finally, in August 2010, we went into the studio and recorded the song for all to hear.
Not necessarily a Christmas single, but certainly a seasonal one, we hope the warm brass tones of the Banditos horn section will thaw even the coldest of winter evenings. Best enjoyed sitting back with a fine whisky. Or even a cheeky tequila!
