Album Notes
"G. has been crying most of today - I couldn't get her to sleep until she heard your lullabies! Now she is sleeping soundly, so they do work! I wanted to order some more CDs for a few friends as presents.. Most mums are quite desperate for any sort of help to get the baby to sleep.... I'm recommending you to everyone I know."
Dr. EB (UK)

Lullabies that do the trick!!

I came up with the idea of recording a lullaby CD when my godson's little brother was about to be born. I wanted to create something different - something utterly pure and simple - a selection of beautiful songs that were heart-felt, authentic and sung like a mother softly singing to her baby.

I wanted the production to be almost imperceptible, so the whole project felt natural, "naked" (like skin to skin contact between mother and baby) and virtually "timeless" (although of course I have drawn this particular selection of lullabies and songs from the cultural inheritance most familiar to me.)

Richard G Mitchell, my producer, understood exactly what my vision was, and worked with me to make this album sound as lovely and as "natural" as it does.

I was inspired by the thought of a connection with all mothers throughout human history, in every place, in every language, in every culture singing their babies to sleep.

My hope is that this offering of cradle songs will help you to create an oasis of calming, intimate simplicity. There are old songs you may already know and love and new ones you will not have heard before. (Listen here.)

I also wondered if these songs might soothe a savage "adult" breast, too - so if you're an insomniac (and not just because your baby wakes you up in the night) I'd love to hear if these lullabies help you get to sleep!

May you always be cradled by life and your hearts always be blessed by beautiful music!

With love for a beautiful future!

I've been singing for as long as I can remember. My earliest memories are of me as a tiny girl, sitting on a swing, unable to touch the ground, singing "Edelweiss" to myself and another of me lying on the carpet gurgling "Pop Goes The Weasel". You may be relieved to know I haven't included any gurgling on this recording!

There's a kind of sweet irony to me releasing a CD of songs to help sing the world to sleep (I really hope these songs work for insomniacs too!), when quite a lot of my waking hours are invested in my passion for serving the evolution of consciousness and culture (i.e. us all "waking up" and co-creating heaven on earth together. No not kidding!!)

I have other CDs, videos and recordings you can discover on my official website.
