TAKE A MAGICAL TOUR WHERE DREAMS ARE BORN
With Dreamland, Joanie Bartels' new release
Los Angeles, CA - PURPLE FROG RECORDS is thrilled to announce that DREAMLAND has won a 2003 NAPPA Gold Award and Best Lullaby Recording from The Children's Music Web Awards.
Dreamland is an enchanting collection of gentle, inspirational and story-like songs that will captivate children of all ages, guiding them on a magical tour where dreams are born.
Joanie's angelic voice shines on plush, sophisticated arrangements of her favorite childhood classics, "Never, Never Land", "Turn Around", "Nature Boy", "The Moon Is Made Of Gold" and Louis Armstrong's beloved "What A Wonderful World." Seven, exquisite new compositions, including the hauntingly beautiful title cut "Dreamland", (co-written with arranger/producer Chris Rhyne) feature flute, bassoon, oboe, acoustic guitar, violin, and viola played by some of Los Angeles' finest musicians.
Joanie has been described as "one of the purest voices in children's music" and she was named favorite female vocalist in a survey of new parents by Child magazine and the American Association of Children's Entertainment.
Dreamland is Joanie's twelfth audio recording in a career that began in 1985 with her multi-award winning Lullaby Magic. She was the first female children's artist to receive an RIAA Gold Record, and her "Magic Series" on audio and video has sold over three million copies. According to Joanie, " I believe Dreamland is the best work I've ever done...I've never been in better voice and the songs were chosen and written from my heart".
While Dreamland will certainly soothe little ones to sleep, it also works beautifully for older children who like to listen to music before bedtime. Many of the songs have a story-like quality with inspiring messages that make it appropriate for children of all ages. "I've dedicated this album to all my nieces and nephews for inspiring me in my work, and to the late Rosemary Clooney who was my very first inspiration to become a singer", says Joanie.
Joanie's Put On Your Dancing Shoes CD, released last March on her new indie label Purple Frog Records, has won Parents' Choice, Children's Music Web and NAPPA awards, and it is expected that Dreamland will follow in the tradition of Lullaby Magic, making Joanie the "fairy godmother" of children's music.
A portion of the proceeds from this CD will be donated to charities benefitting the health and welfare of children and their families.
