The full list of instruments is:
Tabla, psaltery, saz, violin, tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone, hurdy gurdy, hand percussion, oud, synthesisers and samples.
As well as two unusual singers, Mina Kanaridis and Verena Clemencic-Jones, the cd features Australia's top exponent of the tabla, Tarlochan (Bobby) Singh, the violinist from Coda, Naomi Radom, the classically Indian trained soprano saxophonist Nick Buff, tenor saxophonist Craig James and the authority on medieval and eastern instruments Michael Atherton.
Some of the material was composed by creating the outer structure and major themes in a conventional manner, followed by the recording of written and improvised elements, then the editing, reworking and often re-recording of the audio and electronic material.
This is particularly useful in the vocal works in which one singer can create layers of 6 or 7 voices at a time.
