Album Notes
Beauty's Confusion make music that rides a fine line between electronic pop and gloomy indie rock. Influenced by a myriad of sound, from underground hip-hop (Buck 65, Anticon), and the "Bristol Sound" (Portishead, Crustation, Archive), to melodic rock (Catherine Wheel, Coldplay), and electronic pop (Frou Frou, Ivy), the duo has created music and words that break the hearts of those who listen.

BC is comprised of Chris Caulder (formerly Skip Frederiksen) and Jenna Ferone. They formed in 2002 on a mutual love for emotionally affecting movies, and the vast indie rock and trip-hop music realms: music with heartfelt meaning. They are extremely down-to-earth, hard-working people who strive to create music that defies the generation gap, as well as the gap between electronic music enthusiasts and indie rock fans.

Beauty's Confusion released an EP in spring of 2002 (and an updated version in late 2002), and in 2004, released their 14-song full-length CD "Breathe In." BC have remixed several independent and well-known artists, including Natalie Walker (formerly of Daughter Darling), Kosheen, Public Enemy, Lunascape, Sarah Fimm, Copeland, and Bjork. BC have also collaborated with and have been remixed by the worldwide electronic music collective Bitstream Dream.

If the sounds of Esthero, Dido, Sarah McLachlan, Sneaker Pimps, Puracane, and Portishead interest you, you may enjoy the music of Beauty's Confusion.

This album is so gorgeous. As I've read elsewhere, dark and depressing songs... truly heartfelt, you can tell by the lyrics. Production is clear, and very professional. Excellent work. I hope this band gets much, much bigger. They deserve to be. *Danny*

the hardest-working duo in trip-hop
I bought this CD directly from the band. I was impressed by the extent this band goes to put out a quality product, not just musically. You can tell the CD and inlay are all designed and printed/cut by hand. They burn their own CDs themselves, too. Right off the bat, that impressed me.

And then I heard the music.

This CD is phenomenal. It is everything trip-hop wishes it could be, but isn't... it is everything pop music wishes it could be, but can't. Skip & Jenna write consistently great hooks... their songs borderline pop but with just enough brooding darkness to keep things interesting.

Job well done, both of you. Can't wait for the next album.

top notch
I love looking for new trip hop/electronic music. However, when reading descriptions it is hard to make a decision as there are SO many options. Everyone says they sound like Massive Attack or Portishead. Here is an act that is one of my best discoveries in years. Unfortuantely for CD baby this CD has not been in stock for a very long time. I ended up getting it direct from the band at their website. Worth Every Penny!! And a free sticker to boot!!

I learned about this band a few months ago, and after downloading some free mp3s from their website I decided to buy their cd. There's not much to say that hasn't been said about this album other than the fact that every single song is excellent. You can play the cd from begining to end and every song is worth listening to. Which, in my opinion, is very hard to find these days it reminds me of bands like The Band and Robin Trower who didn't put out albums with one or two good songs(a.k.a. singles) and then filled the rest of the album with filler, but rather focused on making the entire album worth listening to. Anyway, very good album definetly worth buying, and I can't wait for their sophmore effort.

This CD is absolutely fabulous. Ever since I received it I have had it in my stereo and on my ipod. One of the greatest CD's I have heard in years.

One of the best CDs I have heard in years.
If you are a music fan (and who isnt?) this is a MUST OWN CD. From beginning to end the music, intertwined perfectly with Jenna's amazing voice, will take you on a journey you will want to embark on over and over again. If you took the best parts of Portishead, Dido, Sarah McLaughlin and Hooverphonic and threw them together to make a CD, it might come close to sounding as good as Breathe In does. A perfect CD to just chill to. Buy this will not be sorry.

Tugs at your heart without being cloying
Discovered them while going through (predictably) a period of depression back in 2006, through an officemate who had them on her playlist. It's a shame the band has broken up, because their songs are beautiful and heart-rending without being melodramatic. They just keep things real , y'know?

amazing debut
This is the sleeper hit of 2004. I haven't heard a lot of people talk about this CD but people need to. This is a strong, dark debut album by two people whose only place to go is to the top of the new trip-hop scene. Dark beats, beautiful electronics and truly angelic vocals, as stated above. Fantastic record in every way that any fan of Portishead or Massive Attack needs to hear.
