Album Notes
Currently, Anthony Belfiglio lives in Nashville, TN and teaches music at Belmont University. He has just founded the Belmont Faculty Jazz Group, and the jazz trio Rhythmaning. Recently, he performed on Nashville Public Radio's "Live in Studio C," and participated in a classical piano concert performing works by George Gershwin. In addition, Anthony sits in and hosts regularly at jazz jam sessions in the Nashville area.

As a young musician, Anthony was one of an elite handful of musicians and composers that were selected for an artist residency with Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead in 2001. He then completed a masters degree in Jazz Performance at the University of Miami and a doctoral degree in Music and Human Learning/Jazz Emphasis at the University of Texas at Austin. Anthony has had opportunities to perform with many notable jazz artists including: Dave Douglas, Branford Marsalis, Kenny Garrett, Jason Marsalis, Ron Westray, Delfeayo Marsalis, Kevin Mahogany, John Riley, John Fedchock, Willie Williams, Steve Turre, John Blake and Eddie Gomez.

Notes from Anthony:
Project Escape was recorded while I was a graduate student at the University of Texas. It features some of my favorite musicians and close friends - folks whom I played with frequently during the two and a half years I lived in Austin. The music is very spontaneous and live-sounding, consisting of original compositions, jazz standards, and some free improvisations. I hope you enjoy Project Escape, and find it to be full of surprises. Thank you for your interest in my music!

Adventurous Inventiveness
Anthony has an adventurous inventiveness that can be playful, thoughtful, eclectic and dynamic! His melodies, phrasing, chops and rhythmic expressiveness combined with the talents of some amazing instrumentalists win you over. There are many musical surprises that make you want to listen and find out "What's he going to do next?!" No doubts as to why he was chosen for Betty Carter's prestigeous Jazz Ahead composer's residency!
