We thank you for including Bells of the Lakes in your celebration of Christmas! Bells of the Lakes is an auditioned community handbell ensemble based in the Twin Cities. We are from communities as far apart as Plymouth, Burnsville, and Hastings. Individually, we serve churches and schools as ringers, singers, organists, and conductors, some professionally, others as volunteers. In our seven years of existence, we have built a reputation as one of the premiere handbell ensembles in the country, noted especially for playing a wide variety of repertoire with passion and musicality.
Our Musical Director is William H. Mathis, Minister of Music and Fine Arts at Hennepin Ave. United Methodist Church in Minneapolis. He is a handbell and choral clinician, conducting festivals and workshops across the country.
Bells of the Lakes are individually and collectively members of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers. Bill serves the Guild as head of the Department of Director Education.
Technical support is provided by Kermit Junkert, National Director of Handbells for Schulmerich Carillons.
