Album Notes

With more than 25 years of professional musical experience as the front man for one of the area’s longest-lasting acts, THE SNAP, Ben LeRoy sets forth on the first solo venture of his career with SMILE.

Set aside the implied simplicity of the album’s name for just a moment and hit PLAY. You’ll soon discover that the musical stories of SMILE reveal a wide spectrum of emotions subjects and, in the telling, a palate of genres ranging from straight-ahead pop/rock to jazz, blue-eyed soul and even classical baroque (as found on “Lolita”).

The quality of production on SMILE speaks loudly for both LeRoy’s talent as a song-writer and performer as well as for the studio-and-technical expertise of Marc Moss (who recorded David Bromberg’s 2007 Grammy-nominated Try Me One More Time). Although LeRoy has chalked up numerous recordings in his two-and-a-half decades as a musician, this album is a stand-out effort that marks a moment in which the performer has hit his stride.

Ben has such a way to fuse lyricism with a heartfelt quality of music! I was a fan when he led 'The Snap' now it's extraordinary to hear the essence of his soulful voice with each song! Fabulous job Ben! The only song missing was "Daddy's Little Princess" can't wait to hear more!

congrats my friend!
I've known Ben for a lot of years and always appreciated his talent as a live performer and even have had the pleasure of sharing a stage with him. This has been a long time coming and is well worth the wait! Well Done! Folks, if you get the chance to see him live....DO IT! You will become a devotee.

Smile Indeed!
A pro at his best and most comfortable. LeRoy is The King in creating a vibe- This one is fun & thoughtful..This CD takes you from The Quarter in New Orleans to a beach in The Bahamas to the Grand Opera House in Wilmington, Delaware..all in under an hour! The production is amazing. My faves are Turq. Blue, Friends(WOW) and Lolita. Plus anyone who covers both 100 Years and Maybe I'm Amazed on the same CD and PULLS IT OFF has got my 13 bucks. Keep 'em coming Mr. LeRoy and thank you for making us smile!
