Album Notes
This is Berman's Contemporary Jazz debut CD, after an illustrious career with the 50's Doo-Wop Group, "The Cleftones"!! Berman was raised in Queens,New York where he graduated from Jamaica High School. He loved sports and was a member of the Varsity basketball team which won the city championship, circa '55,however he quit prematurely before having a chance to play in the championship game which was played at the original Madison Sq. Gardens Arena. Berman did eventually peform at Madison Sq. Gardens however, as a member of the 'Cleftones'!!Berman always enjoyed singing and was asked by a fellow student to perform in support of her candidacy for school president.During that time Berman met some fellow classmates and helped to form 'The Cleftones',who enjoyed a successful career appearing throughout the U.S. and Canada with the likes of DELLA REESE,CHUCK BERRY,FATS DOMINO,& LITTLE RICHARD.
Berman comes from a long line of artistic people. His Grandfather taught music at Virginia State University, his father played the Cornet, his sister, Joan was an accomplished piano player & her daughter Stephanie is currently the head of the Piano Department at C.W. Post University,Long Island,New York.So you see he comes by his talent naturally!!!!!!!

'The Cleftones' had a very successful run through the mid 50's and early 60's with hits, such as, "Little Girl of Mine", "Can't We Be Sweethearts", and "Heart and Soul".Some of their music has been featured in Motion Pictures such as 'Good Fellas',The Bronx Tale'& 'American Graffiti'.The group was recently inducted into 'The Doo-Wop Hall Of Fame Of America',Boston,Massachusetts as well as in The Group Harmony Hall Of Fame in New York City. However, with the invasion of the 'Beatles' in the early sixties, the Doo-Wop era came to an end.Berman's love for the Big Band era motivated him to embark on a solo career. Although he enjoyed his time with "The Cleftones",Berman always wanted to sing 'The great American Songbook songs popularized by the likes of Frank Sinatra,Mel Torme,Mat Monro,& the great Nat 'King' Cole!!The subsequent CD resulted, which by the way was reviewed by music critic Bill Meridith of the 'TGIF' section of 'The Palm Beach Post Newspapaer'.Bill stated Berman was right on with his interpertation of these American Standards.Berman was also{4/04} profiled in 'Wellington, the Magazine',Wellington,Florida where he was acclaimed as 'Wellingtons' celebrity with alot of 'Heart'n' Soul'Berman recently performed along with Issac Hayes,Chaka Khan,& Roberta Flack[4/2/05]at the Jazz& Blues Festival in Riviera Beach,Florida where he was well received!!If you enjoyed this CD be sure to check out Berman's latest offering 'The Best Of Everything'!!

A definite "feel good" CD
A supurb mix of contemporary light jazz classics with a big band sound. Berman Patterson comes across as an accomplished artist who derives personal pleasure from his music while smoothly belting out these favorites. 'Finally Alone With You' is definitely a "feel good" CD.

Strong voice,& quality performance!
I just happened to be listening to the Dick Robinson Show,'Music by the Sea' a few Sunday's ago on WXEL 90.7 fm radio here in Sunny South Florida when he palyed one of the cuts from this particular cd & made reference to the singers background.Berman recorded some beautiful ballards while with the legendary Doo-Wop group'The Cleftones'.Good to see/hear he stll has it & is carrying on the tridition.Anxious to hear what's coming next!!

Having sang with Berman in the Cleftones, singing songs were a group effort, that means compromise.... The other side of Berman's talent never fully escaped and reached the public until now. The songs on this CD are the type he really likes to sing and his superb performance shows the fun he's having singing them.Yes, they are covers of previously recorded material but you will hear his voice is right up there with the Best!!. You will really like this CD and if he combines his singing with his song writing talents, You'll Love the next one. Sit Back!!! Relax, and Take a listen...

Fantastic! Berman reincarnates the swooners!
I enjoyed listening the first time, the second time,....and the fiftieth time!

The secret weapon is out!
Berman was the secret weapon of the Cleftones, the unheralded second lead. What a treat it is now, to hear the velvet voice, the diction, the pacing, all finally released on his own CD.

Berman, you would have made a first-rate lead singer fronting Tommy or Jimmy Dorsey's band. Thanks for 50 years of great music.

Berman still has what it takes. He reminds me a little of Sinatra and I think his name was Al Martino.
