Bernie Jungle is a singer/songwriter who has played in many bands over the years: Cleveland's The Earl Rays and Bay-Area favorites Thunderbleed and Warm Wires, not to mention his homemade drum kit "Shirly" that he played in The Lipsey Mountain Spring Band.
A collection of songs that are autobiographical and fictitious, whimsical and hopefully memorable . The actual CD that you can hold in your hand, comes in a beautiful matte finish case designed and photographed by Yuri Ono. The cover photo by my Dad. Most of these songs are conjured from memories of growing up in rural Western Pennsylvania, some songs are based on fact and some are pure fiction, (you'll have to decide which is which) but with the lens of growing up in that area, countless hours spent playing the guitar and walking the railroad tracks.
These 12 songs originally recorded and mixed by Scott Greiner, with additional recording and mixing with Wallysound, and final Mix and Master with Myles Boisen at Guerilla Recording and Headless Buddha Mastering Labs. copyright 2012
songs feature: Adam McCauley on Drums, Guitar and Keyboards, Peter Altenberg on Tabla and Sarangi, Carrie Bradley on Violin, Kathleen Gacek on Vocals and Melodica and Scotty Houston on Bass guitar on "Pop" and Joshua Housh on upright bass on "Mine Field" . Bernie plays Acoustic guitar, electric and bass as well as singing.
look up all these fine musicians and artists listed above online, and you will be amazed at what they do in this world.
Bernie's new band features Adam McCauley on drums (Warm Wires, Little My), Scotty Houston on bass (100 Watt Smile), and Allan Moon on keyboards (Carlos, Slouching Stars). He brings his funny, odd, beautiful, and bittersweet songs out into the world with this new release with shows in Oakland and SF booked from Feb - April
a couple reviews are already in:
Quote me: BERNIE JUNGLE – GREATEST HITS IS THE BEST NEW MUSIC TO COME OUT IN THE LAST FIVE YEARS.
Well done, old friend! By the way, your guitar playing just keeps getting better and better.
- Banner Thomas (Molly Hatchet, Big Engine)
"It is an absolute cohesive journey of wonderful and emotional sonic beauty."
-Brad Mossman (bmossman productions)
"I was reduced to tears of joy whilst careening down a New Jersey highway at 5:15 am …thanks to Josie driving 60 in a 25. Bowled over again and again." – Robert Gaw
"OMG Josie? Kidding me? Addition of piano-bass-drums killing it – fine, fine, but at 2:55 we happily pull away from spacship earth, only to be dumped off on the side of the NH turnpike by song’s end. Malkovich, Malkovich. Most Delightful !"
