Bertha Payne was born in Arlington, Tennessee, a municipality within Shelby County, Tennessee. As a teenage, Bertha began singing in the Morning Grove Baptist Church Choir where she became a member at a very early age. Her love for singing gospel songs grew exponentially to include singing the blues at class reunions. Although she performed at church, prison ministry, nursing home, class reunion activities, and Sunday School on Wheels. Bertha was reluctant to release her talent for singing to the general public. Her exposure to singing artists such as KoKo Taylor, Etta James, Tina Turner, and Betty Wright was the inspiration and encouragement she needed to venture into unchartered land. The support she received from these artists gave her the courage to step out on faith and do what God had given her talent to do ---SING.
Bertha retired from her job and began work on her first CD, which was released in 2005 entitled "Bedroom Offer". Her
second CD was released in 2006. Although Bertha had many obstacles to overcome, she remembered what KoKo Taylor always told her---"Keep God first, do good, look good, sing good, and you will shine." Bertha made a successful come back in 2009 when she released a CD entitled "Let The Party Get Started." In 2010 Bertha released a Christmas CD entitled "Merry Christmas From Me To You". Bertha currently released another CD February 2013 entitled "It's The Blues In Me." This CD proves to be the best that will be enjoyed by millions everywhere.
