"My Man Loves Me" is one of my new original tunes and the first of several I'll be releasing as singles. It's a New Orleans rumba blues with a swing section and a bit of jazz flavor to it. I was inspired to write this after seeing organist, Dr. Lonnie Smith, playing with some great New Orleans blues and jazz players on the HBO show "Treme" not too long ago. "My Man Loves Me" debuted at B.B. King's Blues Club at City Place in West Palm Beach, Florida.
With the exception of drums, the entire track was recorded at The Music Box, my husband's project studio, which is where my 2010 release, "All Shades of Blues," was recorded as well. The track features John Fifield on guitar, Gabriel Vivas on bass, Goran Rista on drums, Paul Banman on keyboards and David Fernandez on tenor sax. Drums were recorded at Goran Rista's facility, GoranGrooves. Background vocals were provided by Gabe Vales and Fred DeBerardinis, two members of my working band, Beverly Lewis & The Mixx.
I arranged and produced the track (John Fifield co-produced/arranged) and the mixing and mastering chores were handled by Neil Case.
