ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Big Baby Ernie's follow up record, "My Rhythm" shares the funky feel of their debut,"Where I Live" but goes much deeper lyrically and musically. The band's musical alter egos go to battle on this 17 track flowing, medley-ridden work. There's a strong sense of BBE's R&B and soul influences (as always), but this time with a hint of Beatle-esque rock and whimsy.

Lyrically, the songs are bold, honest and personal but never patronizing. The stories let you in and the music pours you a drink and asks you to stay a while.

"My Rhythm" was recorded in a relaxed environment by and among friends at Ostrapotamous Studios in Toms River, New Jersey. Big Baby Ernie spent the better part of four years writing and recording this release and all that time can be heard in the many layers and textures it brings to the ear. Kind of like good soup...

This record was recorded as "authentically" as possible in the tradition of classic rock and soul. There are NO digital instruments on this record. The pianos, guitars, horns and strings are ALL real. The album's lone drum loop on the title track,"My Rhythm" was recorded on a 1/4 inch tape machine from the 1970's. Even the synthesizers used on this recording are analog and are older than most of the band members.

"My Rhythm" is an album for people who love albums (the CD even has the look and feel of vinyl) not just singles. It's for people who own big pairs of headphones and concert poster collections. It's for people with lava lamps...

If you like Stevie Wonder and The Beatles and everything in between, you'll love Big Baby Ernie...
