Mr Raga's Neighborhood mixes Jazz, Funk and Fusion with an indian vibe. performers include bamboo flute virtuoso steve gorn, keyboardist walter fischbacher, trumpeter satish, guitarists lee boice and raoul bjorkenheim, and bill buchen on tabla, programming, percussion, keys and bass. The music travels from Asia to India to the Lower East Side of New York city which is the world headquarters of Mr. Ragas's Neighborhood. So pull up a chair on the sidewalk and have a listen.

Along with his wife Mary Buchen, Bill is co-director of Sonic Architecture and designs interactive sculptural installations for science museums, public plazas, children's museums and art galleries throughout the world.A pioneer in the world of sound art, his websites are and

Bill has studied indian percussiuon and vocal with Kadar Khan,Pandit Samir Chattergee, Anand Kumar Mallick, South Indian Percussion with T.S. Nandakumar and most recently with Ustad Zakir Hussein. He has studied guitar with Pat Shepard, and Piano with Trudy Silver, Walter Fischbacher, and Herb Wigley.

He has performed with Indofunk. Steve Gorn, Gigi, and Drala. He may be heard on the following CD's Indofunk, Bill Laswell's Sacred System Nagual Site, Sacred System II, and Revelator with Raoul Bjorkenheim & N. Skopelitis, Drala, David Van Tieghem, Jay Clayton and Laurie Anderson. He played on Broadway for the musical Bombay Dreams.
