Slather

by Bill Lonero

As one recent purchaser of "Slather" commented, "Steady ripping guitar tracks that energize the soul.... This album is not about continual redo's, mixing track after track in a studio, it is raw. Pure music as it should be. Well worth the investment."

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
In the world of music Bill Lonero is not cool, if cool means following trends and using computers to create songs. Not only does Bill play instrumental guitar (which by its own intrinsic value is not trendy) but he does even this different from the pack. Not concerned with 5 minute solos and constant time changes he is more concerned with writing a good song then impressing people. If that means a song has no solo and is just acoustic guitar then so be it. He also strayed from using computers in the recording process for his new cd "Slather". All guitar parts were recorded all the way through with no cutting and pasting, editing or punch-ins. In short he sacrificed speed of recording for integrity of music.
Bill began playing guitar at the age of 12, Angus Young being his first and biggest influence in terms of guitar and attitude. His first musical influences were Elvis Presley and Barry Manilow, sighting Manilow's abilities to write melodies as an inspiration.

Bill has proved to be very versatile in many styles with the likes of his solo music offerings. He has also played and recorded with arguably some of the greatest musicians to date, He has done various recordings and clinics with Stu Hamm (Joe Satriani, Steve Vai), Gigi Gonaway (Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder), Mike Mangini (Extreme, Steve Vai), Polo Jones (Whitney Houston, Eric Clapton, Zucchero), Marqhuino Brasil (Mariah Carey, Craig Chaquico), and he still tours with his live band including drummer Brice Busch.

The songs on Slather harken back to the days when music was recorded live by musicians and not computers. Using the talents of Stu, Gigi, and Mike, Bill has assembled a unique amalgamation of musical support. Also utilizing atypical instruments such as Clavinet and Hammond, Slather represents a look into the future of instrumental guitar.

Bill's representation of technique on guitar ranges from rock influenced, in-your-face power to Latin/Cuban inspired grooves to sultry acoustic melodies. As one visitor to BillLonero.com cited "Your ability to make the guitar sing as a voice and drive like a freight train and soar like a glider is awesome. You do not sound alike in any of the songs you do. It is like listening to a guitar with multiple personalities. I love it".

Most recently Apple Computers/QuickTime has taken on the cause by using their immense advertising capabilities to promote Bill on their website and Quicktime Player, the latter bringing in 50,000 visitors to BillLonero.com in 24 hours.

With the release of Slather to an on growing fan base world wide, further promotion on Apple.com including a 3 day listening party for the release of Slather and live shows in the works, the old cliché rings true, "the future is looking pretty bright".

UPDATE:
Bill and his band Lonero are scheduled for a live web cast in April for a very famous satelitte radio program.

June will find Lonero as the house band for the Apple Mac Developers Conference in San Francisco.

AWESOME
You could very easily say that Satriani has met his match. This album is unlike anything you have ever heard; the range of styles is huge, no two songs sound alike. I hope his next CD is just as good as this one.
