Billy Hester was born in Houston, Texas. Raised in a family of musical talent, Billy was determined to play his part. “I remember as a kid, my best friend’s dad had a country band. I would sit and watch them rehearse for hours just waiting for them to take a break so I could jump on the guitar and try to mimic their licks.” A fun loving guy and entertainer, Billy played and sang along side his mother in church and was sure to be seen and heard picking a Haggard song or two at all the local gatherings. Billy won his high school talent show and went on to raise quite an uproar in bars around town.
In 1999 he was asked to be the front man for a new country band called “Nine Point Mesa”. The band consisted of some great local Texas players and a few members from the award winning band “Little Texas”. After cutting six songs in the studio and a year of club dates the band separated, but Billy didn’t stop there.
He moved to Nashville, Tennessee in February of 2001. Since then he has started his own publishing company, records demos and can pride himself with the fact that he’s a songwriter.
Billy’s influences include such artists as Travis Tritt, Merle Haggard, Elvis Presley, Lynyrd Skynyrd, John Conlee to name a few. Billy holds some imposing credentials. He has performed at many venues including the 2001 and 2002 Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo cook-off. The Liberty Opry House - Liberty Texas, The Gator Festival - Anahuac, Texas, The Water Festival - Lake Chicot, Arkansas, The 2002-2008, Winters Brothers Southern Summer Jam, won runner-up in both the 2005 Billboard Songwriting Contest and the 2005 John Lennon Songwriting Contest and has made numerous appearances on Public Access Channel 19 out of Nashville, Tennessee.
There is no doubt that Billy loves what he does. You can hear it in his voice and see it in his life.
“Every morning I wake up and try to think of new ways I can make a contribution to the world of Country Music “
