Based in Eugene Oregon, the group was formed in Beltane 2011 by Star Wrey and Victor St. Petersburg.
Joining the group for live performances are veteran dancers; Ruby McConnell of The Red Raven Follies and Margarita O'Brien of Hip Service. These enchanting ladies weave an ethereal tribal fusion dance spectacle of original choreography inspired by their interpretation of the music accompanied by Christopher Pfeffer of Ala Nar on Arabic tabla (doumbek).
"Black Magdalene’s unique blend of middle eastern influenced rock and crunchy electronic beats had the crowd entranced. Definitely a spectacle that has to be experienced to really get a handle on."
— Joshua Finch, Exiled In Eugene
"Complementing the program are the exotic sounds of Black Magdalene, winding through a songbook of dark intrigue and slinky beckoning. (Their version of The Rolling Stones’ “Paint It, Black” adeptly fulfills the original’s Middle Eastern yearnings.)" - A wink & a smile: The Red Raven Follies bring ‘Fool’s Journey’ to the Majestic
