ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Blaine the Mono was formed in early 2011 in Orlando, Florida. This up and coming female fronted foursome artfully blends Blues, Grunge, Alternative and Metal to form a fresh, cohesive and catchy sound that really conveys emotion and has captivated audiences leaving them wanting more after every show.
Guitarist Eric Joseph grew up with a guitar in his hands and The Beatles in his head. He most admires “Paul McCartney, Kurt Cobain, and Chuck Berry, because of their gift to relate to anybody through chord progressions and lyrics.” Stating emphatically “I learned everything I know about song writing from the McCartney school.” Eric and drummer Clifton Garner are childhood friends. They grew up in Tampa and have been writing music together since junior high. Clifton cites the grunge and punk scene of the 1990’s as his primary influence for his heavy hands, punchy fills and interesting grooves. “I grew up on the classics and grunge but now I find influence from all over, I really love it all!” Randi Stickles on lead vocals brings a soulful and intense vocal style that amazes many. Her voice can be sweet and delicate one minute, full-on Metal growling the next. Randi’s inspiration for songwriting comes from within. “My music and lyrics are the soundtrack to my life. If I don’t live it or feel it, it doesn’t come to mind. All of my words are at most an arm’s length from my heart.” The addition of Chris Culverwell on bass brings a bluesy and progressive rhythmic style that rounds out the instrumentals. “Our own individual styles work well together and we lay some great music down for Randi to really play with. She takes it and creates incredible vocal melodies that are catchy and people want to sing along to.” All four members work really hard to give Blaine the Mono a unique and relatable sound that impresses audiences and gets heads moving.
Blaine the Mono has played all over the Central Florida Area with many of Florida’s top indie bands and was awarded a coveted showcase spot at the 2012 Florida Music Festival which was headlined by The Dirty Heads, Filter, and Collective Soul. They have been the Featured Artist on many local media sites and won the honor of being named “Orlando’s Bloodiest Band” for their role in the annual “Rock for Blood” drive to support the Florida Blood Services. They receive regular local airplay on 101.1 WJRR and have grown quite a local buzz, becoming a fan favorite among the local Central Florida alternative rock scene. Most recently the band was featured as a showcase performer at the 2012 Driven Music Conference in Atlanta and received a wealth of praise from many of the conference’s industry panelist. While in Atlanta, Blaine the Mono played multiple shows including rocking out to a packed audience at the iconic Star Bar in Little Five Points.
Blaine the Mono’s two song EP entitled "One Rail, Two Tracks" was released in September of 2011 and has sold steadily at shows, from ITunes and in other digital formats. The band spent the majority of the summer of 2012 in the studio recording a much anticipated seven song EP. The resulting “Vices in Verses” is a polished presentation of the bands beginnings and a glimpse of what’s to come. “Vices in Verses” will be released in December of 2012.
