ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Imaginative compositions and arrangements that cover a number of contrasting styles and grooves. From pretty ballads to funk to mad dissonance…these guys pull it off with their own unique style. The intricate horn lines would be difficult for anybody to play and these guys pull it off with no sweat. Bravo!"
- Adolfo Acosta, Trumpet, Tower of Power
--------
Blowzone is a band for people who like to think, feel, and move…all at the same time. Featuring a 5-piece horn section, this Minneapolis-St.Paul-based ensemble has often, and aptly, been described as “genre-bending”. With direct influences that include Miles Davis, Tower of Power, James Brown, Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, Jimmy Smith, Sly, and the Beatles, the band keeps “a foot in the history and an eye on the future.” Blowzone makes sure the fun stays on top of every groove. Enjoy the band's original songs as well as covers of Bobbie Gentry's "Ode To Billie Joe" and Joni Mitchell's "Helpless."

Blowzone is:

Kelly Rossum– trumpet
Ray Vasquez - trumpet
Greg “G-Man of Soul” Keel – tenor/alto saxophone
Peter Vircks – tenor saxophone
Brad Callahan – baritone saxophone
Brian Ziemniak – keyboards

Tim Zohrne– drums
Pancho Lopez - persussion

A MUST ADD TO THE COLLECTION
A friend turned me onto Blowzone. The super heros (Batman, Superman, even Underdog) need to watch out. The Blowzone Crew have asumed superhero status in my mind. I can't put into words how good the music makes you feel - so go ahead and grab a copy. Note to Mr. Callahan - I'm giving copies of the CD to all of my friends for the holidays. You guys make me look good and smart by sharing your music. Please - work hard and get back into the studio!

WOW!
....very refreshing, gents. I can't wait to put on the tunes each and every day. I'm not getting tired of this collection of hot pocket stuff at all. Keep it going!

Blowzone brings the Jazz/Blues/Funk Genre to a new level. Thank you Brad!
Blowzone has a powerful and unique sound - and will magnify your appreciation for excellence by linking their magnificent original material and arrangements to many legends who have gone before. Quincy Jones, Steely Dan, TOP, Chicago, Ides of March, and the list goes on.

While most of the songs are inspiring original works, they are immediately familiar and instant favorites - as if you've known them forever! This one has a permanent slot in my CD Player! Is there such a thing as six stars?
