Album Notes
Makes You Strong is the BGP's fourth recording (released October 2006) and includes several songs which the band still performs. The title is taken from Jesse Winchester's song, "That's What Makes You Strong," which, at that time was particularly fitting; Two of the bandmembers had lost a parent during the summer preceeding the release of this album, and there'd been several high-points that the band experienced that year, as well; highs and lows - maybe that's what makes us strong... And as it turned out, this album is last one on which three of the original bandmembers appear; Patti Casey, Jim DiSabito, and Andy Greene (actually, Andy had left the band well prior to this album's making, but he had been our guest on the tracks that are taken from our joyous Quebec music festival appearance). Many of these songs are borrowed from some of our favorite songwriters, including Peter Rowan, Buddy Miller, Laurie Lewis, Hank Williams, Jesse Winchester, and, of course, originals from former bandmember Patti Casey and current bandmember Taylor Armerding. If you like what you've heard from the BGP, you'll love this recording - it's full of good songs and good energy!
