ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
“A seasoned performer, Bobby Horton is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, and music historian. For more than 30 years he has traveled The United States and Canada performing with the musical-comedy group Three On A String. He has also produced and performed music for ten Ken Burns films, including ‘The Civil War’, 'The History of Baseball’, and ‘Mark Twain’, two films for The A & E Network, plus seventeen films for The National Park Service. His series of recordings of authentic period American music has been acclaimed by historical organizations and publications throughout America and Europe.”

The Christmas Season has always been a special time for Americans and music is a key element in holiday celebrations. The purpose of this volume is to present instrumental arrangements of Christmas carols and seasonal tunes as they would have been played in parlors, meeting halls, churches, and around campfires during The War Between the States and the late Victorian era. You will recognize many of these wonderful melodies as they are still beloved today.

Like all the volumes in this series, I created these arrangements, played all the (mostly) period instruments, and recorded this music in my home production studio – hence the “Homespun” in the title.

If you're into traditional music, then you need to get into Bobby Horton. I've been a fan since the 1980s and his Christmas cd is spot on. be sure to check out all of his CSA work. You won't be disapointed.
