The Boilermaker Jazz Band has been making a living playing live shows for 25 years. Dances, concerts, parties, festivals- you name it, they’ve done it. And this recording aims to capture that spirit and energy that can only happen when playing for an enthusiastic audience. What you are going to hear are unedited takes being performed for our friends and fans at the Mobtown Ballroom in Baltimore, MD.
Many bands choose to play tried and true material when they record a live album. Not so here- with just one exception, the Boilermaker Jazz Band has recorded all new tunes that have not appeared on any of their previous releases. Not only will you get a wonderful experience of hearing the band perform live, but you will get a whole lot of new material to check out as well!
Sometimes, a room has a vibe or a feel to it. And from the first time the Boilermaker Jazz Band played in the Mobtown Ballroom, they knew it was the place to record their first live album.
The Boilermaker Jazz Band would like to thank Michael Seguin and Nina Gilkensen for having the guts and determination to open and operate the Mobtown Ballroom- currently THE place for dancing on the east coast. We’d also like to thank them for being so accommodating during the recording sessions. Many thanks also to all the regular patrons of the Mobtown who make it such a fantastic place to play! And to our sound engineer- Dino Distefano- for making the process just feel like a regular gig, but making it sound so wonderful.
We hope everyone who has heard the Boilermaker Jazz Band perform live will appreciate and enjoy this recording. And for anyone who has not- we hope this recording will inspire you to catch a show sometime!!
Until then, we’ll keep on swingin’.
