BIG BADD WOLF MEDIA both commenting on the fresh and original sound with a fusion of guitar shredding, AOR and progressive metal!

Beautiful and evocative - highly recommended
Earth-3 maintains a good balance between shredding (which Andrew Bordoni is obviously capable of) and sensitivity. The songs are well crafted and interesting, beautiful and haunting. The production is good, although sometimes the vocals are less distinct than I would prefer. Overall a fine piece of work that I recommend highly.

Amazing for an indepedent band! Great music and production!
I really didn't know what to expect from this cd. I heard the samples and thought they were cool then I saw that if you got both of Earthcubed's albums you would get mr bordoni's new album for free so I thought what the heck!
WOW! I must say that for an independent band this is amazing!
It isn't perfect by all means, then again it's better than a lot more bands out there that are signed with major labels!
Kristin Lamb is a good singer and adds a different texture to all of the album.
Mr Bordoni is an amazing guitarist and songwriter (I think he wrote all of the music and lyrics).
I also thought that unlike the previous review, the packaging for an independent band is pretty good. True, no booklet, but all the info and lyrics can be found on their website (I checked just a minute ago).
To be honest, I want the music to be and sound good and don't give a crap about the packaging.
That said, listen to the samples and buy this cd!

Why isn't this guy HUGE yet?
Why Bordini is not as well known as Ayreon's Arjen Anthony Lucassen is a mystery to me. Bordini's music is incredibly lush and original for a indie artist. Give him the backing of a label like InsideOut or Century Media and Bordini will go far.

Tuneful shred with awesome vocals
Highly melodic, tasteful shred-prog with awesome vocals from Kristin Lamb, who Mr. Bordoni is apparently not working with anymore, and it pains me a little to learn he's now working with an operatic-style singer, pretty much my least favorite kind of female vocals.

The music's excellent and slickly recorded, but it's pretty underpackaged; a no booklet digipak which, for further information, directs you to a section of his site that apparently no longer exists.

prog-fantasy shred
Very enjoyable blend of metal & new age. Nice to hear vocals and guitar that compliment, not compete. I prefer Kristin Lamb's vocals to the male falsetto of most "fantasy metal" groups. (Freddie Mercury turns in his grave--I'm talking to you, Sacred Steel!) But I digress. Earth-3 rocks!

Wonderful music! Amazing, meaningful Lyrics!
I heard the song,"The Cross" on a BWBK compilation that came wth the magazine. I must say that "The Cross" stood out from among the rest! I immediately went to Mr. Bordoni's website(the old one)and checked out the lyrics of this song&the others on the CD. I was very impressed at the words which spoke of peace&harmony among mankind. Not many Metal bands are this feeling and expressive with their lyrics&music in such a meaningful way.
I listened to the rest of the clips on CDBaby and enjoyed them. I knew I had to have this Album!
This group&its progressive sound reminds me much of Stratovarius, SymphonyX&Kamelot--the leaders in the Progressive genre. I think EARTHCUBED is on par with any album these groups have produced&I am amazed that Mr. Bordoni's CDs are not widely circulated&sold! I think word-of-mouth should help sales a bit, and I personally am mentioning the Bordoni CDs on Forums I am on! I think these albums will have a bright future once they are heard by more people, and Mr. Bordoni takes his group into more cities and bigger shows!

Great melodies & volcals
That's the kind of new music that I really enjoy nowadays. Great melodies and an excellent singer also. Very powerful music with some atmosphere parts included. Excellent pick.

Great new talent in the world of power/neoclassical metal!
Andrew Bordoni's Earthcubed

Review by Benares at

Britain has long played host to a vast number of guitar legends, and have influenced countless others. From this legacy steps forth Andrew Bordoni and his Earthcubed project. Backed by the soaring vocals of Kristin Lamb this axe wizard is out to leave his mark on the world of neoclassical and progressive metal.

Musical Quality - Impressive debut album, especially seeing as how it has no major label support. Bordoni's guitar work is blinding, complex and invigorating. He can blend fast riffs with intelligent displays of guitar competence in a big way, and the songs have alot of fire as a result of his efforts. One of the greatest signs of a good musician, in my opinion, is that the musician knows when NOT to play. Bordoni's axe is the lead element in the band, but the songs have character and melody without him having to blaze off into a fireworks display every minute. I think his acoustic work is notewrothy as well, as it plays a big part in the band's sound. I find it refreshing to see a guy whose not afraid to incorporate acoustic and electric elements in his writing at the same time. Kristin Lamb's vocals may not be Tarja Turunen's but they have great atmosphere, and her work on the chorus lines is on par with the biggest names out there. She also brings an eloquent touch of folk to the music with her contribution of violin on several tracks. There is always a flip side to the coin though, and I suppose the biggest drawback on this album lies in the production quality. It is VERY impressive for a small label, but some of the sound gets convoluted from time to time.

Lyrical Content - Interesting mix of fables and magic centering mainly on British mythology (King Arthur and such). I find the repetetive nature of these themes in neoclassical and power metal to be taxing, but this band manages it without getting corny (a feat not easily pulled off). Well written, well sung and well done!

Packaging - Interesting cover art, even if it really doesn't have a damn thing to do with anything in the music. The interior layout is, well, missing. There is nothing here but a list of who did what and an e-mail link if you want lyrics. I know this was relatively low budget, but give me something to work with here!

Overall - I'm impressed, I didn't step into this expecting quite the product that I got (which was better than I had hoped for). A great find for guitar freaks and power metal fans. Not something you boys and girls in the death/black/thrash/core circles would dig unless you are into fancy guitar work.
