Breaking Silence was founded in 2010 by just a group of friends that grew the ambition to create a movement of love, hope, and freedom to the hearts of everyone through their music. Playing at local churches around Los Angeles and Orange County area as well as supporting fundraisers and benefit concerts has been their drive to elevate a wave of a young generation that are passionate about the love of Jesus Christ. It was a heavier rock influential style until the summer of 2011 when Hector Baca joined to brighten up the sound with much more synth influenced melodies. Later in the year, Giovanni Canales joined as a second guitarist as the music shifted ultimately into an alternative pop rock with catchy guitar riffs and melodic synthesized arrangements.
Anyone who has seen the band live already knows that it isn’t your typical show. They encourage the crowds to breach out their comfort zone and experience a freedom like no other. “Everywhere we go, no matter how big or small the venue may be, or how many people are in the audience, there is always one individual that gets to benefit from it, and that’s enough of a reason to do what we do,” Gio explains. “We love meeting new people, making new friends, and fellowshipping with one another, that’s what it is all about,” Albert says.
On April 2012, Breaking Silence made their way into the studio with Advent Records to begin recording for their upcoming Set Me Free EP with producers Matthew Barbosa and Luke Barbosa (from Southlen), which is scheduled to release August 2012 containing three tracks that will be released as well on their forthcoming studio album. “We knew going to work with the Barbosa brothers that they would immediately capture the essence of the style we are aiming for and be able to carry out the vision of our band and music. Alternative rock song “Set Me Free” which is the band’s first single has more of an upbeat pop dance style and is scheduled to release mid-July 2012.
Breaking Silence continues to look forward to the future and is anxious to what lies ahead. “Truly blessed to be doing what I love doing most and especially with such talented group of friends, I can’t imagine this journey any different,” frontman Mike Ramirez says.
