ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Brian Wendt has had a love affair with the acoustic guitar and the music that is performed on the guitar for over 4 decades. He has studied with many guitarists including Leo Kottke, Tommy Emmanuel, Laurence Juber, Alex Degrassi, Pat Donahue, John Knowles and Pete Huttlinger.

Brian has performed at many colleges, concert halls, clubs and other venues throughout the western United States. He performs original instruments as well as covers of ragtime, blues, jazz and popular tunes. He also writes many of the songs that he performs.

\"My compositions embrace many styles and moods. When I am composing or arranging I think of the guitar as a 6 string orchestra and I try to challenge my abilities as well as my sensibilities. In choosing a song to sing I look for well written, meaningful lyrics, a good melody and a special spirit that moves me when I perfom the song.\"

One Man One Guitar One Bargain
This album of mostly instrumentals offers a mix of great old blues tunes, like "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out," 1950s pop tunes like "Under the Boardwalk" and "The Glory of Love," guitar workouts like "Classical Gas" and "Layla," and several original compositions in a variety of styles. The guitarist's clean technique shows through without warping the songs to fit. I especially enjoy "Planxty O' Nordan," which I was surprised to learn Wendt had written. The few songs with vocals hold up, but the playing is the reason to hear this album.
