Album Notes
On his fourth full length collection, The Brigadier (Matt Williams) turns his attentions to the world of work, crafting a suite of songs that encompass different aspects of the daily grind - commuting, job interviews, call centres, CVs, resignations etc. As usual the musical styles cover many genres - Boogie-rock, electro-pop, orchestral, 60s pop, ballads, power-pop - making this an intriguing collection for the listener, at times witty, but also moving and uplifiting.

Synergy and the workady world!
A themed album reflecting the drudgery and darkness of the 9 to 5 trap, excellently captured in this new collection of songs by The Brigadier. And yet this is not music to drain your spirits, but a celebration of what is possible when many influences are fused into a integrated whole. Follow the protagonist in his musical journey through his struggle with routine in the workaday world and his eventual emergence into a better day!

Power-Pop Aimed at the Office
If you would like to get a solid dose of well written power-pop, please check out The Brigadier’s latest release “The Secret of No Success.” This CD comes across as a coherent concept album of sorts about earning a living in the real world. Starting at the beginning of a “Doing the 9 to 5” work day, Matt Williams (AKA “The Brigadier”) takes you on a scenic journey through the various dynamics of working in an office job including the commute. In addition to Matt’s original songwriting and whispery vocals, expect underlying layers of various influences such as Queen, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Monkees and of course my personal favorite, The Divine Comedy to shine through in this album. Give it a good listen! You will not be disappointed! My pick for the stand out track is"Doing the 9 to 5."
