Album Notes
The Nevada Jazz Orchestra, led by Barry Ross in this Las Vegas Latin Connection CD, will certainly bestow this incredible ensemble with well-deserved critical acclaim in the highly popular Latin Jazz genre. From an exhilarating original, Como No! to his unique and fresh treatment of the classic, Besame Mucho, Barry has created a memorable and exciting collection of amazing performances. He thrills us with a passionate and emotional outpouring of Latin soul that will delight listeners worldwide. Listeners will also enjoy his orchestrations of wonderful tunes penned by members of this prestigious aggregation of jazz artists, including Celebration by drummer John Abraham, and Seize the Day by bassist J. F. Brisette. Barry features the incredible solo work of the gifted pianist Mike Eckroth, extraordinary trombonists Dick McGee and Curt Miller, trumpet virtuosos Walt Blanton and Gil Kaupp, fantastic saxophonists Phil Wigfall, Dave Stambaugh, and Garrett Hypes, and the great Fred Haller on flute. The magnificent brass section, led by lead trumpeter Tom Delibro, delivers poignant statements that Barry has sensitively crafted. The genius of drummer John Abraham and percussionists Mickey Alvarado and Chiqui Garcia are showcased in exploring the driving rhythms and infectious syncopations evident in this spirited and pulsating music. Barry Ross is unquestionably one of the most versatile and talented arrangers on the scene today and this first offering by his outstanding group of fine Las Vegas jazz musicians will clearly be recognized by jazz aficionados everywhere.

Awesome band!
We need more big bands like this. All live, all real, no fake horns. These guys are top notch.

Incredible arrangement of "Besame Mucho"
I heard this band in Vegas a few years ago. They do several concerts a year. Also I have heard other arrangements by Barry Ross, who I thing is one of the best in the biseness. The album is fresh and exciting. Ross's way of writing for brass is beautiful. The arrangements on "My one and only love" and my favorite "Besame Mucho" are origional and the best arrangement on those tunes that I ever heard. Ross also has a couple of origionals on the album which highlights his composing skills. A talented man with a well seasoned orchestra. I will be looking forward to more of his works in the future.
