"Small Town Living Big City Game" (2001-02) had a history before it ever hit record stores. This hot 17-song album was to be the introduction of the Northwest's premier rap group before Bullet & Shaolin parted ways. With only half of the group intact, Bullet still found away to break ground and be successful, proving that quality music and good business is the key to success. The album was picked up by Bayside Entertainment Distribution and re-released nationally in October 2002. The album has received radio play in several states and high line press in seven countries. Their songs have been featured on six other albums and compilations, including Jay Tee's debut album "So Cold". "Smalltown Livin' Big City Game" features N2Deep, Mad Ro and The Eastside Riderz; with production from Funk Daddy, Cool Nutz, Philly Blunt and Big Squeeze. The album boasts the single "I Want You" featuring Kay Kay, and underground hits "Let Me Ride", "Soaking Up My Game" as well as R&B hit "For So Long". Even with all of the setbacks and controversy between Bullet & Shaolin, this 2002 release was still one of the hottest Northwest Rap albums of the year.

I Cannot Wait For The Next Album!
From the first time I heard Bullet and Shaolin on the Northwest Ridin Compilation (released by Bow Wow Records www.bwr2000.com) I knew there was something unique about this rapper. Now joining with Shaolin they bring out this album together.

These two rappers are from Bellevue and Pasco which is in the state of Washington. The stuff on here is really dope and Bullet and Shaolin continue to impress as each track passes. On the Torrey Ward produced Smalltown Livin' Big City Game you cannot help but take this out to the street. This is mob music to the fullest. Bullet really shines on this track. Man I cannot understand why people (the masses) are not picking up on this coz they don't know what they missing out on.

The track that I cannot stop playing is U R Bad. Just by listening to this album they have already added their names to my favourites list for this year. You know what else, after listening to so much of Mr D.O.G. I've grown to love Big Squeeze's production and he contributes his production on My Folks. Nice beats man. But that's not all because one of my favourite producers Funk Daddy lends his hands on I Want You featuring Kay Kay. It's that unmistakable Funk Daddy sound.

Other tracks that had me open was Eastside Riderz featuring Jazz and KayKay with Arjay, For The World featuring Jazz and Arjay (This is tight!) and What I'm Looking For featuring Jaytee and Gino. This album features a host of well known NW artists such as Jay Tee (from N2Deep), Cool Nutz plus a few others. I really enjoyed this album and will have it playing for a long time and you know what else? They have tortured me by putting 6 bonus snippet tracks from their forthcoming album Dedication And Desire. That's total punishement! I cannot wait for the next album!

Do yourself a favour and peep this. The track U R Bad will be doing the rounds on my show in the next following weeks so if you in South Africa don't forget to peep it. Recommended by AfricasGateway.com. Check for an interview coming soon!

Solid From Start To Finish
Rhyme vet Bullet returns to record stores with the recent release of "Small Town Livin', Big City Game". This time around is a little different as Bullet is joined by fellow Eastside Records artist Shaolin, who compliments Bullets gruff voice with a more laid back smooth type of flow. Together the 2 form a solid verbal tag team that is really something to be looked forward too. The album opens with the title track, which has Bullet rolling solo. Shaolin makes his presence felt on the 2nd track "U Aint Done Shit" where the duo wreck havoc on a Torry Ward produced heater. Following that is the catchy "Let Me Ride" featuring Mad Ro. This track is something sure to keep the heads knodding, the infectious chorus stays in your long after the song has ended. Other highlights on the album include the posse cut "Eastside Riderz" which features the entire Eastside roster, "Tonight" and the Funk Daddy produced "I Want You". "For So Long", the smoothed out R&B hit which features Arjay who is joined by Bullet shows that the ladies weren't forgotten in the making of the album. With Torry Ward handling the majority of the production "Small Town Living, Big City Game" is a solid effort from start to finish, this LP is something no Northwest music fan should pass on!!

This One Here Is Heated!
Small Town Livin' (Big City Game)
Production : Torrey Ward
Vocals : Bullet
Additional Vocals : Jazz & Torrey Ward
The songs starts off like a church choir on crack. The beat is pretty good, it has some Chinese elements in it I think. Bullet spits some nice vocals on this one and comes pretty hard. The hook is nothing special, I'm wondering where Jazz is in this song. He definitly didn't sing on this one that's for sure, they should've used him on the hook instead of Bullet himself.
"You can't wait to grind, you grind first..."

U Ain't Done Shit
Production : Torrey Ward
Vocals : Bullet & Shaolin
I really like this beat, it's real tight. Much props to Torrey Ward on this one. The verses are pretty good, but nothing special. Bullet comes a little harder than Shaolin though. The hook is pretty good even though it isn't sung. An okay song.
"Eastside, we know this..."

Let Me Ride
Production : Arciurus
Vocals : Mad Ro & Bullet
Additional Vocals : Arciurus
I love this song, the hook is straight heat. This one had me going from the very start. The beat is pretty good, nothing special. But the verses are really heated and the hook is so damn tight. If you don't feel this song I suggest you get your ears checked. It reminds me of some L.A. based music but with a Bay Area touch. This is real nice right here.
"High sidin', fool we ridin'..."

Eastside Riderz
Production : Torrey Ward
Vocals : Bullet, Shaolin, Jazz, Kay Kay & Arjay
Additional Vocals : Jazz & Arjay
I thought this one would be tight cause it has Jazz and Arjay on it, two of my favourite singers. Plus the fact that Arjay never ever let me down on a song. But I guess there has the be a first time for everything. The verses are pretty good but the hook is pretty lame, especially when you expect a real smooth R&B hook. The beat isn't that good either. But it's still an okay song, just not as good as I expected from Jazz and Arjay.
"All y'all move aside for the Eastside Riderz..."

Tonight
Production : No1Else
Vocals : Bullet & Shaolin
Additional Vocals : Arjay
I remember No1Else from the other Bullet albums, he's alright nothing too special though. This is another avarage beat but he seems to improve a little anyway. The verses are okay, it fits the beat. The hook, done by Arjay, is real tight though. He sounds very Reggae on this one. I guess you could say it's a pretty good song.
"That's how we do it tonight, tonight I say we got it all locked down..."

UR Bad
Production : Torrey Ward
Vocals : Bullet
Additional Vocals : Jessica Lynch
This is not my favourite song off the album. The beat is way too dark, it even reminds me of a Yukmouth song. The hook is not too good either. The verses are alright, but nothing too special. You might want to skip this song when you're playing the album.
"I know I see the looks in public. I'm bad but fuck it cause these white girls love it..."

For The World
Production : Torrey Ward
Vocals : Bullet, Shaolin & Jazz
Additional Vocals : Jazz
Background Vocals : Arjay
Strap on your spurs cause this sounds like an old Western song on pink soda. It's pretty cool though, but very original to say the least. The hook is tight and the verses are come pretty clean. You'll be able to bump this, for sure.
"I drank with them riders, got chopped by the rest..."

What I'm Lookin' For
Production : Philly Blunt
Vocals : Bullet, Shaolin & Jay Tee
Additional Vocals : Gino
Classic. I think everybody who owns Playas Association 4 "Northwest Hustlin" will recognize this song. I don't know wich version I like better, this is actually the original version of "Top Notch Hoe". And since "Top Notch Hoe" was my favourite off Playas Association 4 I don't think I need to say anything more than : Tight production, tight hook and tight verses. Tight that's what I said!
"A super top notch hoe, is all I'm really lookin' for..."

My Folks
Production : Big Squeeze
Vocals : Bullet & Shaolin
This is a pretty good song. The production is pretty good, the hook is avarage and the verses are okay. Nothing special though, just an avarage song. They come pretty hard on this one though.
"Don't ask me, my folks know I fuck with the best team..."

I Want You
Production : Funk Daddy
Vocals : Bullet & Kay Kay
Additional Vocals : Kay Kay
This beat is tight, but you really can't expect anything else from Funk Daddy. The hook is alright and once again, this Bullet / Kay Kay collabo reminds me of E-40 and Suga T., very weird. It's a pretty good song, you'll like this one.
"Bullet I want you. Yeah you want me..."

For So Long
Production : Torry Ward
Vocals : Arjay & Bullet
This is probably my favourite "new" track I've heard on this album, so that doesn't include "What I'm Lookin' For" and "Soakin' Up My Game". I've always had a soft spot for R&B tracks, so this is really my style. The beat is real laidback and Arjay, my God, he drops some heavenly vocals. If you're into the whole R&B thing, there's no way you won't be able to feel this song. Bullet has a verse on this too, I don't know if it would have made a difference if he was on it or not. Extremely heated track.
"Baby I've been waiting, we can't find the answers..."

Soakin' Up My Game
Production : Torrey Ward
Vocals : Bullet, Shaolin, Jay Tee & Arjay
Additional Vocals : Arjay
If you know Jay Tee, you'll know this song. It was also on his solo album "So Cold". It's a very tight song. The production is very slow and smooth. Bullet, Shaolin and especially Jay Tee all come very tight. The hook is tight, but you always have that when you put Arjay on it. Bump this one to the fullest!
"Everybody keeps soakin' up my game, my game..."

I'm All That I Got
Production : Torrey Ward
Vocals : Bullet
The beat is pretty tight, a little dark though but still cool. The verses and hook come hard, it's a very lyrical song. No sung hook this time, it's all Bullet. It's pretty good, don't skip this one, the more you listen to it the more you're going to like it.
"I'm all that I have, I'm all that I got..."

This One Time
Production : Sporty
Vocals : Bullet, Shaolin & Arjay
Additional Vocals : Arjay
I heard this beat somewhere before I think, anyway I forgot where. It's a pretty tight one though. The verses are alright, Bullet comes real tight. The hook is simply beautifull, yes, it's Arjay again. Another very nice track, I like this one a lot.
"You know you can ride with us, but only for this one time..."

Til The Sun Goes Down
Production : Nuke Bomb
Vocals : Nuke Bomb, Bullet, Shaolin & Arjay
Additional Vocals : Arjay
I love this song, that's all I can say man, this is highly heated. The beat is supertight and the beat is even tighter. I could bump this song all day. You absolutely have to hear this song, I promise you won't be disapointed.
"I said I wanna slide and slide until the sun goes down..."

Round And Round
Production : No1Else
Vocals : Bullet & Arjay
Additional Vocals : Arjay
Another Bullet and Arjay song. A pretty slow beat wich, like I said before, fits Arjay's flow. Yeah, I love it. Three straight heated songs in a row, this is the kind of music I want to hear more from Bullet. These type of songs will get spinned in my house all day long. You'll love this song.
"I been standing strong, I been right and I've been wrong..."

I Can't Smile
Production : Cool Nutz
Vocals : Bullet & Vursatyl
Additional Vocals : Vursatyl
Last song of the album, except the "Dedication and Desire" snippets from Bullet's next album. This song right here's a nice finish for the album. Vursatyl drops a very smooth hook on this one. All the verses are pretty good, slowed down to fit the beat. Yeah, this is a good song to finish off the album.
"I can't smile no more. I'll come home before you go..."

This one here is heated and it makes you wonder because these songs actually didn't make the "Dedication & Desire" album that will drop this year (2003). And if this album is already this tight you really can't wait for the real one. It is definitly the best Eastside Records release ever. It has a lot of R&B influenced tracks and a lot of different subjects. You also have a couple of "Dedication & Desire" snippets at the end of this album, they all sound very heated. Be on the tip of your seat for the upcoming Bullet album, that's all I can say! You can check www.eastsideriderz.com for more information. To listen to some of Bullet's song you should visit http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/374/eastside_records.html. Peace...
