“The chords they strike are not only on their instruments, but in the hearts of us all.” Gloria Gaither.
The Burchfields have recorded around ten cds, but none of them have the variety in musical styles as this one. Several cuts on the album are played in the Brothers concerts because of the interesting arrangements using Mallets, Irish Whistles and Classical Guitar.
“I Saw the Light” is arranged like an old time fiddle tune. The spirited two-beat gives it energy and is always an audience favorite.
Blending “Battle of Jericho” with “Caravan” brings you back to the days of Duke Ellington. The light jazz sound of the vibes was a featured instrument in many orchestras and combos.
“What a Friend” is complimented with the beautiful works of Debussy. The subject matter in many of his tunes was nature itself, keeping this arrangement in the tranquil spirit of the 23rd Psalm.
Along with a couple Contemporary Christian pieces, is Gospel, Spiritual and the very Irish “Be Thou My Vision”.
The nature sounds on this cd includes the chirping of a little yellow bird that lived with Mom and Dad Burchfield for many years.
