ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Butch Phelps compiled his favorite New York City musicians, put them in a studio in the woods, and recorded his songs. With help from the legendary Keith Christopher (Georgia Satellites, Dan Baird, the Yayhoos) , as well as Benny Landa (Graham Parker), Vin Cimino, Justin Wallace (Ulu), Alison Jones (The Roscoe Trio), Pete Karp and Yisroel (Brooklyn Jazz Warriors), the project was a resounding success.
At times earthy, grisly, groovy and rollicking, mellow and pensive, the Buck Ups provide the perfect compliment to Butch's songs. Slightly irreverent and partially precise, here you'll find music that is free and loose and always in hot pursuit of the muse.
Inspired by the many places Butch has called home, the songs reflect living among the ramblers of Portland, Or, the anglers of Cape Cod, Ma, and the punksters of NYC's east village.
