The recordings on this album are drawn from a series of dedicatory events spanning five days in February, 2007. However, the meaning of dedication is revealed most fully not in momentary ceremonies but in the fulfilling of a purpose over time. We proudly and gratefully gather for these ceremonial events knowing that a colorfully renewed Boe Chapel, a painstakingly installed new pipe organ and a recently published Evangelical Lutheran Worship book cannot be dedicated in a hurry. Their true dedication will be enacted over semesters and Sundays and years to come. Trusting that such dedication will mark the future, we gathered during these days to sing, pray, listen, speak, look, admire, enjoy, ponder and praise.
This recording is a compilation of these events, and there are a few moments which make the recording very "real" -- make clear that this is not a studio recording where any blemish can be fixed. We hope this live recording allows you to experience the spontaneity and delight that comes when God's people gather for prayer and praise.
The spirit of God, we are told, is the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and fear of the Lord, the spirit of joy in God's presence. May chapel, pipe organ and worship books provide a place for all to encounter and embrace that spirit.
