Album Notes
John Caranicas, born in Thessaloniki, Greece, is the son of renowned Greek musician Kostas Karanikas. He grew up in Thessaloniki, where he studied music and art. He came to the United States as a college student, and studied music and engineering. His music is influenced by his international exposure as much as his Greek heritage.

The songs on this CD reflect that exposure and his sense of humor and inventiveness. (John is also a mechanical engineer, with many patents and new products to his name.)

The music and lyrics are original and most have a direct English translation, provided by his wife (not Greek, unless by immersion and osmosis). The music and compositions precede the recent movie interest! This is a small selection of hundreds of original songs composed by John Caranicas. They were included here because of their cross-cultural styles and his sense of musical character developed as a nine-year host of "Our Greek Corner", a weekly public radio program in central Massachusetts.
